Useful, Effective, Could Use a Good Proofreader
Overall, I think this is a helpful, easy-to-read book with lots of good ideas, focusing on plant-based meals and clean eating. For me, I saw results as quickly as three days into the program and was down 4 pounds. As of today it's been 17 days, and I'm down 10 pounds. I do agree with other reviewers that if you’re not a cook, this might not be the plan for you — it does require a considerable amount of time and effort to prepare meals. And I also agree with other reviewers that it is not budget-friendly, unfortunately, it’s expensive to eat healthy food. The permitted foods are ok for the Scrub and Soak Up phases, but I did find them challenging, especially for the Scrub phase — I’m not a fan of eating fish as my only protein, but it was doable. The Stabilize phase foods were much better. There are some interesting recipes as well. The only bone I have to pick with this book is the editing and proofreading. I didn’t read the first edition of the book, but it looks like there were carryovers that didn’t get picked up. If you’re going to update a book, do it right, especially if it’s a NYT Best-Seller. There were inconsistencies between the phases’ food lists and also what was in the text of the chapters. An example would be that in the Scrub phase, you’re not allowed to have eggs or nuts, but then it says that if you need a snack during the Scrub phase, feel free to grab a hard-boiled egg or a handful of nuts. Then the Soak Up food list has a list of new foods different from the Scrub food list, but those are missing foods that are new, like bananas, which weren’t in the Scrub phase. The Stabilize phase was missing a list of new foods different from the other two phases. I found it annoying to have to toggle back and forth between phases and figure out what was allowed and what wasn’t.Other than that, I’d recommend it to anyone looking to improve their lifestyle and health.

The diet works but a lot more effort than the 1st book and expensive to follow
I love Dr. Mike and I got the first book and loved it. I looked forward to this updated book. He writes well and the book is easy to read. He also provides a lot of good information and he is motivational. I do agree with another reviewer. Very unrealistic menu ideas. Too many ingredients and fussy. I spent a lot of time in the kitchen preparing and planning for my meals. It is also very expensive buying all of the ingredients to prepare the meals. Another issue I had was that this time, not all of the menu items had corresponding recipes. Ex: Dinner: Veggie chili with beans, zucchini, bell peppers, chili powder, diced sweet potato. Ok. How am I to prepare this? I ended up getting a similar recipe off of the internet. I am currently 4 days in (lost 2 1/2 pounds) and determined to see the 17 days through but I am disappointed with this updated book. Hopefully he will come out with an updated recipe book that shows all of the recipes for the menu item suggestions in this book. But I'll revert back to his first book when I next want to lose additional weight.

Fantastic real world principles.
It is rare when practical diet advice can be truly motivating. My wife and I both read it and have applied the 17 day cycle twice with great results. Dr Mike is a real practitioner and it shows in how his words come across. His own experiences are powerful in pointing out that anyone can do this with the right mindset ... "more of the good, less of the bad"

Don't waste your money
The plans work great, but they decided to take a great thing and ruin it by charging a fee for a subscription on social media....stay FAR away. Jane Chiapuzio is the worst moderator they have, she don't belong there! Number of followers dropped from 9500 to 240 in one month. That says a lot

Good content but…
Very unrealistic menu ideas. Too many ingredients and fussy. Would be good if you love to cook, and spend a lot of time in the kitchen.
