The best varnish!
It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny. This varnish was recommended to work with Sharpie Pens when painting rocks, as it does not run.

Perfect
Perfect for sealing alcohol based inks, remember to turn upside down and spray until clear once you’re done with each coat to stop it from getting blocked up

Good
I hand paint with acrylic paint and paint pens onto wooden gift tags and canvas.I saw this product mentioned when googling to find a varnish that didn't make acrylic paint bleed.I have used this for the first time today.Good points -It has worked without any paint bleedIt has a nice shine once dryIt is quicker than painting on varnish with a brushBad points -The spray area is quite wide so you waste a fair amountIt is easy to miss bitsOverall it is good.I got one can and looked again for more so I have a spare can for when this one runs out, but it is currently unavailable.

Perfect for mixed media
I have struggled for awhile with top coats for mixed media. As you may know, one thing will react with oil based but not water based etc. and often I am using old papers that who knows what they printed them with! After much online research I chose Kamar Varnish and was not disappointed. This particular piece is an eco-printed old book page, Staz-On ink in various colors, watercolor, Prismacolor Verithin pencils, and die cuts from TH papers. It is adhered to a canvas panel using Liquitex gel medium. I sprayed 2 light coats of Kamar Varnish on the finished piece. It did ‘intensify’ the colors a bit, but I actually liked that! It made it pop just a bit more. When it was wet some of the book text from the back side of the base piece was visible, but when it dried it was not. This varnish has a satin finish with my 2 light coats. My understanding is that if I wanted matte or gloss I could use a different top coat over this, or even work the piece more if I wanted to. I was happy with the result and decided to leave well enough alone :)If you have issues with clogging of the spray tip, you should know that with most sprays when you are finished for the day, shake the can, turn it upside down and give a quick spray to clean the tip. This product does have some odor to it- use in a well ventilated area. Not nearly as stinky as some products I’ve used, but I think that is subjective.5 stars! If I find it ruins any aspect of future mixed media pieces I will update. But for now I’m a happy camper!!

Krylon Kamar is an awesome product ....acts superb as a sealant for alcohol inked bases ...2 to 3 coats of which will make the substrate waterproof and resistance to other outdoor conditions... ...I have used this varnish on almost lots of my inked artworks ...turned out to be the best for my inked artworks 👌👌!!Never start my art without having them at hand ...I love the way Krylon Kamar works 😍😍...👌👌👏👏!!

Great for alcohol ink
One of the only varnishes I have been able to use on alcohol inks! I use the inks for coasters, and most other varnishes will mess up the ink when sprayed - because they have some sort of alcohol in the varnish, which upsets the alcohol inks on the surface. The Kamar varnish doesn't mess up the inks at all. I use three light coats. The texture seems to be just a tiny bit pebbly but that's okay. It doesn't have a bright gloss, it is matter than that. I like the finish but somebody else might be looking for a super -gloss finish.
