A great collection of Urdu poetry
Tilismaat (طلسمات) by Zafar Khan is an awesome collection of some of the best ghazals in urdu by the modern day poets. His poetry displays depth and mastery of language like the old masters of the Urdu poetry. Here is some of the his best verses from the book:یہ حرف محرم اندوہ۔ نارسائی ھےیہ نخل کشت۔شب۔ آرزو سے پھوٹا ھے------کبھی یہیں سے گزرتی تھی ہر رہ۔ خاطراب اس فصیل تعلق میں در ھے کوئی کوئی-------اک جزیرہ ھے جسے ڈوبنے والے اکثرڈھونڈ لاتے ہیں سدا خوف کی طُغیانی سےI will highly recommend anyone looking for a good Urdu poetry book to get this one.Jarrar

Its urdu ghazl and nazm
I like old fashioned proper urdu poetry. I have dozens of classic and contemporary ghazls and nazms committed to memory and look for new books constantly. Considering how hard it is to find verse published in my beautiful language in the first place, I was beyond pleased to find something that was beautifully printed without annoying errors. The poetry in this book is of good standard: the wazn, the bahr and the ideas are all good, although not exceptional or innovative. Very few pieces left me with anyspecial feeling. Might be my bad. I think I enjoyed the poet's self deprecating ta'aruf much more and thus had expectations of a similar note in the verse. If you, like me, enjoy well structured urdu poetry you will easily read through and will find one or two that speak to you. Don't expect more :)
