The sponge that came with this is not fit for purpose. I am using the jug without the sponge because no matter how much air I expel from it (continuously)!! the water does not pass through. I KNOW that the sponge is faulty because I have been using this design of jug for a year with no issues, in fact I gave a 5 star review last year. I dropped my other 'swing' jug recently and bought this one to replace it...but it has been really frustrating. The sponge is several millimetres thicker than the others I have used and it is just too firm/hard. My water is soft, I never had a problem before. I contacted 'Acala Quel' and asked them for a new sponge, one that actually works and they never got back to me. I seem to remember other people having the same problem with some of these sponges. I resent having to buy another one yet and there is no guarantee that it wont be the same as this.
