Downsizing the Family Home: A Workbook: What to Save, What to Let Go (Downsizing the Home, 2)

i was looking for a how-to book to organize for downsizing. There was a lot of pages dedicated to feelings and attachment. I wanted more of a 1-2-3 here is how to get it done.

I thought this book would have some advice/reminders re: physically downsizing &, of course, workbook pages to keep notes re: inventory, appraisals, etc. Instead, it is almost entirely blank pages for you to fill out the emotional side of downsizing : What do these items mean to you; what did you learn during this period of your life; how do you intend to resolve disagreements about the division of things; even several pages to tape photos of items you want to remember after you sell/donate/trash them (maybe use your phone camera?) or save a piece fabric you snip from a special garment on other pages. I have neither the time, nor the desire, to scrapbook & write essays. It's going back.

A lot of OVERKILL, would take too much time to fill out all the info asked for! Like why you kept it, what are your reasons not to keep it, and it goes on and on! Not all of us are emotional wrecks over our stuff we just need an ORGANIZED WAY TO GET IT TOGETHER & GET RID OF IT! The key words being: ORGANIZED, QUICK, EASY!!!

Similar to a journal for cleaning out the home. If you need help emotionally letting go this is the book for you.

I think it is a good book more for multiple family members making decisions regarding someone else's belonging which is not where I am at. It would have come in handy with our parents belongings though

Very helpful and great suggestions as I prepare for retirement and moving across country after selling my home filled with family members' things and memories. This book has been very helpful in me pursuing my own personal goals.
