Overall, I like it, but
This is nice for mosquito protection, and it does seem to work some (as well as any of these sort of things work). It's nice that it has a magnetic base, a carabiner, and a tripod mount so that you can put it anywhere. The lantern is nice, too.My main gripe deals with the anti-mosquito pad inserts. I will have the caveat that I know Flextail has anti-mosquito tabs, but at the time of purchase, they didn't. So I got Thermocell inserts and cut them to size, as was recommended. The problem with this is that unless your perfect in sizing, if it is too small, they very easily fall out of the slots. Because of this, Flextail could easily fix this problem by having a door or something that locks them in. My solution is to get a piece of electrical tape over the slots. It works, but shouldn't be necessary.Overall, it's a good thing for camping, but there are some things that need to be improved.

Without mosquito repellent tabs its a mediocre lamp
Was not informed that mosquito repellant tabs sold separately.

Excellent Little Product! Works Great, Very Pleased!!
When I first read the reviews of this product there were a lot of people that complained that there were no mosquito repellent mats that were shipped with it, but after researching it was apparent that Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mats could be trimmed down to fit, but what I didn't know as just how convenient that would be!I had decided to purchase this product based on a camping video from one of the YouTube channels I subscribe to. Even though the video is out of Korea, they provide English subtitles and it's a great channel that I enjoy watching. They were using the same product and appeared to work very well (according to them, as well as what I saw in the video), so I did some searching and found that Amazon carried it. I was a little concerned though, as I wasn't able to locate any mosquito repellent mats that were sized to fit it, but figured I would try cutting down the Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mats any way, since they provided measurements for the mats that would fit it.What I found out when it arrived was that simply cutting a Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mat in half (on the long side) results in two pieces that fit perfectly in this device. If you use two mats together (to maximize the device's repellent abilities) in the two slots, one Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mat does the job with absolutely no waste, so I couldn't' be happier! The device is well-built, solid, works very well as both a mosquito repellent device (with two "strength" modes, you can repel mosquitoes around the campsite as well as a smaller area like a tent), includes a great little lantern with four modes of brightness, ranging from a ~4W night light all the way up to ~40W bulb, and other nice features (including an excellent and durable carrying case), is definitely something I'll be taking along with me on a LOT of camping trips (not to mention when I'm just relaxing in my hammock in the back yard)!Combined with its quality build and effectiveness, just the fact that I can use *one* Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mat cut in two for use in this device without any waste whatsoever easily cinched the deal for me. Thank you!!!

Really wanted to like this.. but...
So I really wanted to love this.. it would have been perfect for our lifestyle.. we camp often, picnic at least a couple times a week and spend a lot of time in the woods all year. We have the thermacell backpacker and absolutely love it but hate having to always have a fuel can with us. I thought this would be perfect due to size, light and battery. The light works great and I love the hanging feature. It's also small, lightweight, and easy to pack. The downsides are.. the charge doesn't last long. We have tried it on low and high heat without the light and really only get a 2-3 hours of use before it needs to be recharged. Also, it doesn't seem to heat enough to really disperse the repellent resulting in mixed effectiveness. We usually get 3-4 ft radius on high without wind. This could be great for someone at a soccer game for the night or a quick picnic/hike but expect to recharge right away and have limited radius. We are going to keep it as a back up in the car for times when we only need some quick small coverage but it's not something we would buy again.

Keeps the bugs away
Small Mosquito repeller that works. Flextail will send you 10 pads that last about 8 hours each monthly for free, if you pay for shipping, so the longer you use it the cheaper it gets. Needs to be charged daily so not some you take on a long backpacking trip but for a day trip or overnight backpacking trip it's always in my pack. The built in light is not get for anything other then mood lighting but kinda neat to be added.

Repellent pads.
Save your money. If you can't even get the repellent pads. There's no reason to purchase! Edit: Although after checking back on their website. They did have the pads in. I changed it from a 1 star to 3 star. When I used it. It seemed to work.

Flextail Tiny (Flying Pests) Repel Device
Flextail has revolutionized the lightweight camping device industry with the 5 oz "Tiny Repel". Mosquito repellent, adjustable camp lantern and portable power supply. all in one. This device uses a rechargeable battery to heat a insect-repellent pad that produces an odor-and flying-pest free area up to 20 feet wide. (TIP! Buy the repel pads from Flextail, they work and fit much better than the pads from other producers..) The lantern provides from 40 lumens (60 hours) to 400 lumens (8 hours). Used on the High Sierra Trail in Sept of 2023, which had an abundance of flying pests, enough that I was wearing a bug mesh head net and gloves. During a break I started the Repel and propped it against a nearby stump, and after 2 or 3 minutes of warm-up time, noticed a significant lessening of pests, enough so that removing the head net for drinking was possible. At camp, the Repel not only provided a relatively bug-free environment but a pleasant lamp as well. Hung it in my tent, worked great. The battery needed a recharge after 6 or 7 hours of repellent use. A little heavy and battery-intensive for multi-day backpacking, but for car camping/ campground use...Heck yeah!
