Great for virtual classroom!
With the pandemic and less than 25 percent of my high school and college chemistry students on campus, I needed a way to do demonstrations in a safe manner. Unfortunately, all of my classroom lab gas fixtures are along the outside walls, and I needed to demonstrate from the front of the classroom. With the purchase of readily available cans of propane fuel, I have been able to use this portable Bunsen burner so my students' virtual experience is similar to what they would experience in the classroom. Easy to set up and adjust. Stores in a compact 4x4x4 inch box. Highly recommend this product for portability and flexibility. I will be using this regularly, even after I have my students back in the classroom!

Excellent, high quality and convenient -- but a problem with the tabs for holding the can.
I wanted a portable butane-fueled bunsen burner. Although I have one that you refill from a container (similar to an old-fashioned cigarette lighter), it doesn't hold enough fuel. So I wanted to try this one. This is overall well-made, and an excellent and most importantly *stable* design that doesn't tip over when used on a flat surface. It is fully adjustable (don't forget that you must adjust both oxygen and butane levels) and produces excellent flame. I used it extensively for sterilizing nichrome inoculation loops, and it worked perfectly. You can get the fuel cans in the camping section of big name department stores -- you want butane only, not a propane/butane mix. You also want to get the narrow ones about the size of a slightly undersized paint can, and NOT the wide ones, because if you use the wide ones, the device cannot lie flat.So why did I give this 4 stars instead of 5?Butane cylinders of this sort are installed by lining up the tabs and turning clockwise. (Then they are removed by turning counter-clockwise until the tabs align and then removing.) When properly installed, this should hold the nozzle of the can against the seal with sufficient force to prevent leakage. It worked okay the first time, but the second time, I could hear (and smell) butane leakage. Not good! So I tried a different can in case the can was defective. Same problem! So I adjusted the tabs a wee bit tighter, and it worked okay. But now, every time I use it, I give it a listen (and a sniff) to make sure it isn't leaking, which would be an obvious fire hazard, so I can tighten the tabs if needed.Basically, the tabs are not made of a sufficiently stiff metal.Everything else on the unit is absolutely top notch, but I have submitted this review in the hope that the manufacturer will read this review, and improve that one deficiency, even if it means charging an extra $2 because this is otherwise a truly truly great product.

Reliable
Works well, no problems setting it up. It runs reliably. I cannot seem to fold it back up to fit in the original box, though.

Not balanced perfectly
It works, works good even. Simple to use, however, it’s not quite the right height and wobbles slightly when butane can is connected.

Simple to use
I bought this unit to use in carving and molding wax patterns. It is very easy to set up and is easy to adjust the size and quality of the flame. Also works great for freebasing.
