very disappointed. Received box in an open state was hoping ...
2nd line does not retract... very disappointed. Received box in an open state was hoping someone had checked it before sending as this is the 2nd one I ordered since the first did the same thing. I was hoping the 2nd would be better. I liked the idea of the product. Anyway, huge disappointment.

spend some time getting to know how you fasten the cord and it will save you some frustration

Love this! I can hang laundry inside
Love this! I can hang laundry inside. Doesn't matter the weather. And it's HUGE. So long. I don't have the room to pull it all the way out. Works perfect!

Just plain doesn't work. The line has too much stretch so your washing ends up on the ground.

Feel a little cheated. Item is *NOT* the same as advertised images.
Item received is (while still technically the correct model #) *NOT* the item that is pictured on the page.I spent months looking for one of these clotheslines to replace the one I already have (which is *precisely* what *IS* pictured on the page) that had simply reached the end of its natural lifespan after at least 5 (and probably closer to 6) years of twice-weekly use without complaint. My second one of these, in fact, although the first one was a single line that also worked like a charm for several years. (To everyone complaining that the line sags and the little hooks on the bottom break off, they do - but the fix to that is to get you a flagpole/boat tie-off anchor and mount it on the wall beneath the clothesline housing, then wrap the line around *that* while using all your strength to pull it taut.)So, imagine my excitement when I found exactly that same clothesline that I already have pictured on Amazon, with three slightly-used, like-new versions available, for a reasonable price! (Slightly more than I paid for it when new, but hey, I really like this clothesline and wanted another.) It was *super* important that I find the same clothesline as a replacement, because the mounting bracket from the previous two is permanently attached to my house. I was all excited - yay, a new clothesline!...only...What came in the box is *NOT* the same clothesline. Not the same as the clothesline I have, and *NOT* the same as the clothesline pictured in the images for this item on Amazon. Not only is the housing different, and the ends of the lines some dinky little plastic loops instead of the sturdy metal ones, but - and this is the killer for me - the mounting bracket isn't the same *AT ALL*. Nope, instead of the cool slide-on, slide-off bracket that's actually *PICTURED* for the item, I have a crappy little metal bracket with two screws that are so small that I question their ability to even hold the housing (which is somehow about twice the weight of the old one, despite having the exact same lengths of line in it) securely to the wall, much less 98' of line with laundry on it. In the wind, which my yard has a lot of.I'm not only disappointed, I'm angry. I suppose this line will work, so I'm keeping it for the day that my old one finally breaks (eventually they will do that, especially when being used over a hundred times a year), but if it wasn't so difficult to return it, I think I would. First time I've ever been duped by Amazon (and I order here a lot), and frankly I feel more than a little cheated.

Solar Drier
I bought this with the intention of hanging cloth diapers out to dry in the sun, which is recommended for cloth diapers as opposed to using the drier, which wears out the fibers. I have liked line drying so much, that I am pretty much hanging all the clothes outside now! The way I have this unit mounted, and because of my backyard dimensions, I cannot fully extend both lines as far as they will go. However, without being fully extended, it holds about 2 huge loads of laundry at a time from a front loading washing machine. I would guess you could probably fit up to three loads if you fully extended both lines. The seams on the case will split if you do not follow the instructions and wind the cord around both "feet" when you are securing the line. I did this and learned the hard way. However, a little duct tape around the case vertically and we were back in business. The best part of all? I just checked my April-May power bill and it is half what it was last year! The only real difference? We started hanging all our laundry outside! Wish the case would have been sturdier, but I am not sure if it is possible because of the retracting design. Anyway, this has paid for iteself big time.

It's the little things in life
The sight of clothes drying on the line has always made me happy, so this summer we finally got around to purchasing a clothesline system for the yard. It was incredibly easy for my husband to mount to the porch post, and we screwed the two eyehooks into a nearby tree. When you stretch out the line, you do need to make sure to wrap it two or three times around the little feet on the mounting device or you're going to end up with a saggy, saggy clothesline. I've been using it consistently for six weeks (seriously, I've never done laundry this frequently), and I have no complaints about this line. I haven't actually tried the retracting featue yet, so I can't comment on that. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

Easy to use---great for environment too!
Great product....lots of line to use, easily retracts after use. We were concerned about the potential for line flexibility upon first receipt. However, wrapping the line around the bottom tabs (twice as directed) solves sagging problems. Obviously, hanging wet and heavy clothes will cause any line to sag. Suggest that folks counter this problem by either using a wooden pole in the center of the line (simple to hammer a nail into a strip of wood) or spacing heavy items to either end of the line. Would buy this again...we are quite satisfied!12-12: amending my review....though the line itself has held up fine, am beginning to see wear. It is necessary to periodically "rethread" the tips. The plastic holders underneath (that create tension for the line) broke not too long after the review above....we've had to rig up a rather unattractive solution. Still using it though....but probably won't be again.

NOT RETRACTABLE
First, let me say that the design is attractive and easy to install. The major problem is that it is not retractable. I pulled out one line and set it up to dry clothes, making sure I had wrapped the line around the cleat so that it would not sag. Once I was finished with it for the day,I tried to "roll it up" by undoing the line around the cleat and then pulling it out a little to activate the spring. NO GO. It took me at least 15 minutes to shove the line back into the mechanism. About 5' of line still hangs out. The other line (I purchased the dual line system) does the same. Now, I have 2 lines hanging out! Is there some way to rejuvenate the "spring" to take up the line properly? My neighbors like the product, were set to get one too, but then declined once they spied the non-retactable line.

Useless if you expect this to hold any kind of weight
Attached the piece to the side of my gazebo (very sturdy) and the hooks to a moveable pole. The lines are thin nylon that stretched and stretched when any kind of weight was hung on them-so that pretty much eliminated ANY wet towels, jeans, sheets-the things I most wanted a clothes line for. There was no way to tighten them to make it work-wish I just had a rope and couple of nails. Easy return, but I had to pay for return shipping-big bummer. Don't waste your money on this thing.

Works fine, I question construction
I had another clothesline similar to this one which the plastic "tie offs" broke off of after 7 years. The biggest difference I can see so far is that the eyelet which is attached to the line is also constructed of plastic, whereas the old one was metallic, so we'll have to wait and see how long this will last. So far it's been fine, but I question how well it will hold with a load of wet jeans? No problems with shipping, it came much quicker than expected. Installment was easy, and again it is doing a good job thus far, my 4 star rating is based solely on the plastic eyelet which connects the lines to your hook.

Nothing Unusual About this Retractable Line
This retractable clothes line is typical of the type: tension is obtained by twisting the line around a bottom finger attached to the plastic case. I had a similar one for about 10 years, which I failed to take inside during the winter, and it eventually disintegrated. I'll take better care of this one. Does what it's supposed to do; I purchased the one with the longest line, and regularly dry my wash on a screened in porch. Price was OK.

I would say if you are using this for very light weight items it might be great, but for sheets
I have found that the metal hooks at the end of the line both fell off after short period of use. Today I tried to use the second line for the first time. The line became very slack and the metal end came off. I then went to hardware store and bought a tensioner. I put two items on it and the cord dislodged from inside the plastic housing. I would say if you are using this for very light weight items it might be great, but for sheets, towels, and full loads it is non-functional. I am wondering if there is a manufacturers warentee?

versatile and sturdy retractable laundry lines
I bought this Moerman 88349 retractable 2 line clotheslinesystem a couple weeks ago and am thoroughly happy with it.It is very sturdy and held up my towels well without sagging. I followed the other reviewers' advice to double wind the line at the beginning and that prevented any sagging, which some other reviewers complained about. What i likemost about this system is that I could take the whole thing in at the end of the day. I certainly do not want the plastic system to be exposed to heat and sun when I do not need it for drying the laundry. Hopefully, it can prolong the life span. Overall, i am very happy with it and highly recommend it to anyone who do not want to waste money on dryer when there is so much sun out there for one's free use!
