The number and diversity of specimens make this kit an impressive collection of natural and polished gemstones, crystals, fossils, and minerals. The other components of the kit are less impressive. While the information cards are durable and well done, there are only 10 of them. Likewise, it comes with nice, clear plastic storage boxes but just 10 of them. The storage bag housing all the specimens will prove useful even after moving some specimens to the display boxes. Last and least, it comes with a really cheap magnifying glass that is only a little better than none at all. I’ve already bought an inexpensive but much better and more powerful magnifying glass to give with this kit as a present for a preteen. Despite some negatives, this kit is a good value for the quality of the gem-mineral-fossil-crystal collection and for almost inevitably stimulating a child’s curiosity.

Alot smaller than other boxes sold on Amazon for similar price. Noce assortment of rocks but after you sort the big ones theres a ton of Lapis Lazuli and other random tiny tumbled rocks at the bottom of the box that have no identification cards. Definitely not worth $23.99 - shop around before purchasing cause other boxes have a better value.

Great set for learning geology! Lots of great samples. Highly recommend as a gift or educational activity!

I wish the cards had more details, it was difficult to separate the galina and pyrite, its a different type of pyrite that isnt crystalized. Some of the black chips felt like rubber, couldnt tell what kind. Ended up having flourite which wasnt on the card among other crystals. Had alot of amethysts of various colors sizes and banding though overall would reccomend.

The packaging could be better. They just put a bunch of rocks and fossils in a bag and you can tell that some of them have been broken because of the process. There were still more than enough to look through though.

Lot of variety in the rocks and minerals. Only found 2 "fossils" not sure I can call them that. There was what appeared to be a shark tooth and 1 maybe fossil, if it is real. The rocks are mostly unpolished. There is a handful of small stones are polished, but they were mixed together in a velvet bag so they were dirty and some chipped. The magnifying glass is worthless. The cards are nice and informative. Decent set for fans of these. The crystals are not great, looks like they were grown with low quality growing kits and threw them in the bag.

This is a great starter set for the kid or adult that is interested in learning about Gemstones, crystals or Geology in general. it comes with lots of specimens for the person to examine and learn about using the included guide cards. We love anything that encourages STEM learning for the Granddaughters.

Not for the avid rock collector, but as a starter kit for the budding rock hound, it is very nice. Just a mixed bag assortment, but a good many specimens to study, identify, and get a collection started. For the amount of rocks and selection you get, I'd have to say it has a fair price.
