They don't make cars like they used to!
Oh the 1930s. The Great Depression. The Wizard of Oz. And an era when cars had real character and could be identified not just by the radiator grille, but (according to what I was told) sometimes by the exhaust note as well. This book is packed with useful information and lists all of the makes and models sold in Britain during the 30s. Be it popular European makes such as Ford, Morris, Mercedes. North American models (Cadillac, Plymouth etc ), or obscurer makes such as Star and Rockne as well.As with the series on A-Z cars 1945-70. 1970s. 80s; there is a black & white photo included of every model available in the UK during the period covered, as well as years built; engine sizes, production figures, different body styles available (which there were many back in the 30s); in addition to a brief description of each model that is listed in the book; which covers an era that saw a sharp rise in car ownership; thus necessitating the need for by-passes around our major towns and cities; as well as the introduction of the driving test; a highway code, and the 30 mph speed limit in built up areas which still survives today. If you are a vintage/pre-war car enthusiast, and if you're also wanting to know more about the facts & figures side of things, then this book may be just what you are looking for.
