Little box of Big Country
Edit: Since writing this review, I discovered that the first track on No Place Like Home starts halfway through the song. I can't say if this is the same for every copy but I fear it might be for the first batch....First five studio albums from Big Country. From a quick test, I believe these are the 1996 remasters as opposed to the more recent ones from 2012-2014 or anything new, housed in the slim card sleeves (no spines) that you expect from this kind of set. No booklet(s) included. The sleeves appear to be direct photocopies of the original vinyl sleeves with side a and b listings. Not imacculate copies by any means but I've seen worse. While No Place Like Home has its original vinyl track listing on the reverse sleeve, the CD includes the two additional tracks featured on the original CD release but curiously relegated to the bonus tracks on the 2014 deluxe edition.Other than that, these are the albums as originally released on vinyl with no bonus tracks, which is quite a rarity for Big Country on CD. The main selling point aside from the price of £2 per album at the time of writing and release is that the box takes up the same amount of shelf space as one jewel case. The first three albums are certainly classics as far as fans of the band are concerned. Peace in our Time and No Place Like Home are more divisive and would go on to be bettered by later releases, but as a narrative of BC's original major label run from 1983-1990 to reacquaint those who don't feel the need to buy the albums on CD separately but what something more physical than streaming/downloads, this is a worthy release at a fantastic price.

Wonderful
I bought this 5cd collection purely in order to replace my worn-out vinyl copies of the first three albums, The Crossing, Steeltown and The Seer. These albums require no introduction or comment from me; they are simply magnificent. The other two albums in this 5cd set are less well known and as they had apparently not been well received at the time they were recorded, and being new to me now, I had no great expectations. But my goodness they are good, standing up on their merits, and as a representation of how this great band sought to evolve its sound. I shall enjoy listening to these two albums in the future as much as I have enjoyed listening to the other three albums over the last 35 or so years.

Awsome
This was to replace the well worn cassettes and how I've been blown away again with the sound filling my house ,my six year old dancing to every beat I hope Stuart still see,s how these songs fill people

Forgotten how good they were
Having recently seen them live, and not since the late eighties, they played The Crossing in its entirety. I'd shamefully forgotten alot of the songs but what a brilliant album it still is. Recommend anyone to buy it. The box set perhaps not quite upto to scratch as the originals, sound wise, and Adamson's last album lost its substance in my opinion. What a tragic loss in Adamson's passing. Hopefully catch them again next year playing Steeltown. New lead vocal is pretty good to be fair.

Lots of great songs for a good price.
I've had their greatest hits album for years. Now finally, after 30 years decided to get this back catalogue and I damn do I love it. Real vibrant music. Just wish they were still with us now. Shame the collection wasn't remastered but I recommend getting this collection.
