50th Anniversary Jewel!
This graphic novel, reprinted from the pages of Doctor Who Magazine, is a fantastic treat for any fans of the Doctor.Without spoiling the story too much, the events of the very first broadcast episodes from 1963 form the basis of a fast moving and well plotted sequel. At the heart of the story are original companions Ian and Barbara. Their characters are well drawn, both in terms of personality and speech as well as visually. Their adventure with Matt Smith's Doctor has a wonderful celebratory edge to it and feels particularly fitting as a way of celebrating both the origins of Doctor Who as a programme but also the beginning of 50 years (so far...) of a multiverse of characters which occasionally interact in new and unexpected ways.I especially love the reasons developed in the story as to why the TARDIS has always remained in its Police Box shape (yes, it's because the chameleon circuit has broken, but now we know why...!)It's many years since Jacqueline Hill, who played Barbara, died: this story pays tribute to her contribution to the on-going life and legend of Doctor Who, as it does both Matt Smith's and William Russell's, but also the earliest story - at times a bit ropey in episodes 2-4 - is given a fantastic twist and its legacy is given new weight. If it had been possible to collect Hill and Russell from 1963 and bring them back to the present, this would have been an amazing anniversary story on TV - however, it loses now of its wonder by being presented in strip form.At the end of the story there are some superb 'behind the scenes' features on the creation of the story and artwork. This was one of the absolute highlights of the anniversary year for me - wonderful!

5/5 would recommend
Bought this impulsively because I love Ian and Barbara. And callbacks (and there are a lot, but not like dimensions in time where it was callbacks for the sake of callbacks, this time it had a purpose. Kinda wish Vicki got more than a name drop though. She was pretty good.)Definitely recommend if you like classic who, callbacks, and Ian and the Doctor arguing.

I like Ian and Barbara
Ian is one of my favourite companions. Barbara is a great heroine. When I watched Day of the doctor on the 23rd November 2013 I must admit I was disappointed with it as a 50th anniversary. However, this comic is one of the best 50th anniversary along with Big Finish's Light at the end.I also love it that they showed the important part that Ian and Barbara played in the Doctor's life that made him the person that he is today.I would like to thank the people who recommended to get this with The chains of Olympus because you meet the some of the characters in this.

A Magnificent Graphic Novel
This is another superb collection of stories collected from the pages of Doctor Who Magazine. By the end of 2017 there were 25 volumes in this ever expanding series. This volume is slimmer than most but makes up for it due to a wonderful story that celebrates 50 years (at the time of the story appearing in magazine form) of the TV programme with an excellent anniversary story. This is a wonderful anthology of eleventh doctor stories.

The end of Amy and Rory, and Barbara and Ian return!
This is part two of the review I have written for The Chains of Olympus, as Hunters of the Burning Stone is a continuation of the series arc set up for these two books, which are the same length of a regular Doctor Who Magazine comics collection/series. So my advice is to purchase both this book and Chains of Olympus at the same time, so you can continue reading this series as soon as possible. You won't regret it.This section starts off with the final Doctor Who Magazine comics to feature Amy and Rory, with an adventure in Prague at the end of the Cold War, although I knew enough about Prague's culture to guess who the 'monster' was, and a Christmas story tribute to Amy, Rory, and even Melody, featuring Krampus! A bit of a tragedy, what happened to Amy and Rory, and that final page sort of cements the rest of their life together. Sigh.Anyway, The Hunters of the Burning Stone kicks off right after that, and resolves the series of adventures that started in The Chains of Olympus, as it resolves several plot points, mysteries, and questions brought up in this series with some familiar faces and locales, and it is also the 50th anniversary tribute to Doctor Who as it brings back the first two human companions to travel with the Doctor, Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton! It's kind of neat to see these two brought back and integrated into the new life and travels of the Eleventh Doctor as they find out that he really is the same Doctor that they traveled with, not so long ago for them but ages for the Doctor, and they help him resolve some issues that have been troubling him for a very long time. What lies buried in Man? You will find out! And it is related to one of those First Doctor adventures...

An Awesome Meeting Of Classic And New Doctor Who...........
The Doctor Who Monthly Magazine comic stories have always been an excellent place to showcase the kind of stories that are beyond the scope, or in quite a different place than the stories we see on television. They, like the Doctor Who audioplays from Big Finish can encompass the television mythology while taking it to previously unseen and unheard places. This story accomplishes not only that, but also perfectly blends Classic Who with New Who by having the very first television companions, Ian Chesterson and Barbara Wright meet and share an adventure with the Eleventh Doctor. Within that adventure there is also an incredible reveal regarding the Doctor, Ian, and Barbara's "foes", that I wouldn't dare reveal here. Wonderfully, substantially written and drawn, this is well worth the price of admission, and a consistently solid reading experience.
