The rain guage is a self empting - it has a mini see-saw balance inside, everytime enough water has collected, it tips the balance, emptying the collected water and updating the Netatmo central station. Therefore you must ensure that the rain gauge is as level as possible, so that the balance can work.

Q: Will this display rainfall in inches as well as metric?

You can set your app to read in metric or "American" which gives Fahrenheit and inches

Q: Does this come with a ground spike as shown on netatmo website, hmmmmmmm

No it doesn't and what is more it doesn't Even come with a screw which is I gather the same screw used on camera tripods, I think it's quite mean, I managed fo fix mine on a bracket and fixed it on the fence where it is as. far as possible from trees and house. West wishes.

Q: The listed operating temp is 0-50 Celsius. If left out in the winter bellow 0 degrees will it break through freezing?

Water only gets into the measuring spoons and nowhere where freezing expansion could do damage. Mine’s been outside for 7 winters without a problem other than temporarily giving false readings when frozen or thawing.
