I’m not sure what another reviewer meant when they said this pen had no wood grain showing on the brown model. It’s there loud and clear. It looks just like it does in the picture, and it’s lovely. The brass is a nice restrained gold colour too, not artificial or ‘blingy’. It has the nice smooth writing action you expect from a rollerball pen which, for once, comes in a nice smooth package to match.For me the only downside is unscrewing the cap, which is a good 7 twists to get off because of the unnecessarily long threading. I’m considering buying a different-but-still-nice rollerball pen with a click action or a snap-on-and-off cap just because of the pain of unscrewing and rescrewing the cap on and and off.

When my businessman friend purchased one of these sophisticated, manly pens to use in his every day executive affairs, he wouldn't let me use it on the basis that I'm not a businessman like him, that it wouldn't be suited to my role as a teacher, and that there was no way that this illustrious, successful pen could be downgraded by being used as something as low brow as marking student papers. When I remarked that he wouldn't let his female coworkers, who are businesswomen themselves, use it either, he said that their hands were not suited for the smooth, shiny surface and that anyway, they used the Bic For Women biros instead.I was pretty angry at this misogyny until I realised that a simple female like myself will never earn enough money to afford one of these pens anyway.
