The Fantastic Body: What Makes You Tick & How You Get Sick

Great for kids and adults!
This book is very useful in helping explain to children how the body works: great information, clearly communicated, engaging illustrations, and humor added in throughout as a bonus. Dr. Bennett is one of the best and most experienced pediatricians in the Washington, DC area, and it's nice to have some of his knowledge on hand through this book.

Informative and Well Thought Out
Bought this for my 3 year old when he started asking about body parts, and this book is all I was hoping it would be. It goes fairly in depth with the various parts of the body and adds plenty of additional facts and trivia on the sides of the main text. I also appreciate that it has an index for quick look-ups and that it keeps most of the gross out facts off to the side of the main text. I also like that it describes some common issues that can happen with each body part. The book itself is great quality with thicker pages, big pictures, and a good hard cover. Tricky medical terms have their pronunciations next to them, which has been a huge help. My son is now 4 and still loves looking things up in this book. It's a little above his reading level still, but I read it with him and he enjoys that.Be aware: There's a section on puberty and reproduction in this book. If you want to hold off and talk about that with your child at a later time, hold off on this. It stays pretty medical with those topics though and, in my opinion, the topics are tastefully covered.

So we'll done
This book is simultaneously written at a kid appropriate level while still including interesting and unique information so that I as the mom gave also learned new things while we've read together. The analogies and descriptions in this book are top notch!

Had so much potential...
I certainly wish I had looked through the book more thoroughly before planning to use it for the school year. It is crude in regard to things the author may have intended to be funny. If all of the crude humor were removed, it is otherwise good information and full of bright illustrations. Avoid this books if you plan to use with children under the age of 10.

Good pictures and written at a kid's level.
I thought this book would probably be a little over my 4-year-old's head, but it's actually pretty great. There are a lot of awesome illustrations, and the index is really great for finding answers to her millions of questions. It's been really fun to hear her ask a question about skin, viruses, or blood, then tell her we'll look in the body book. We almost always find some useful info to answer her questions, and it's fun for me as an adult to learn this stuff, too.

Great child's introduction to the body
I bought this for my 9 year old when he began questioning about what was inside his body. It made it easy for him to understand how his muscles work and what is under his skin. Best of all it opened up other areas of discussion.i would highly recommend it.

Great book!
My daughter absolutely loves this book! Whenever she is interested in things I try to find things for her to increase her knowledge and this book has been her favorite now for almost a year! She is 7 and started reading it when she was 6, it was her bedtime reading lol. She has been able to learn all sorts of interesting things about the human body and loves the pictures and little fun facts. Great buy!

Awesome big book about the human body
My 5 & 8 year olds love this book. Informative without being overwhelming. Some real photos but nothing too graphic. They always look forward to reading with mom or dad in this book!
