Overall like
Pros: Very lightweight shoes, good tread for trail running. I use them for hiking. Good ventilation for hot weather. Comfortable without being mushy.Cons: I usually wear a 6.5 to 7 in running shoes. I had to get these in a 6. I *HATE* the "speed" lacing system. I find it anything but speedy. There's a little pocket on the tongue which you supposedly are supposed to tuck the extra bits into. But I find that doing so creates a significant pressure point on my foot/ankle. I end up tucking the end under the lace nearest the toe, then back up again toward the top. Looks messy but it works ok. The cord that Salomon uses is very slick so it's hard to be precise in tightening it up. I would characterize the Salomon speed lacing system as slow & fussy. I'm already hunting for my next pair of trail runners with regular laces.

Don't expect to change out the laces !
I purchased these shoes attracted to the fact that they are light weight not to mention for the reputation of the shoe. I had been told that Solomon running shoe might be a good choice for someone with pronation and help to stabilize my gate. I purchased the knowing about the lacing systems and as a triathlete that wants to make a quick transition from bike to run that was attractive as well. After receiving the shoes I tried to work with the lacing system but found it to be cumbersome and not create the fit I was looking for not to mention the shoe was slightly big. I thought I would try changing out the laces on to find that the grommets in the shoe which are plastic are so small that you cannot get a regular lace thru them. I have resorted to using very thin elastic purchased from a fabric store. Other than that frustration I do like the shoe and might try again only i will try a smaller size and research the laces more.

What's Your Mantra?
As someone who has narrow low volume feet, Salomon shoes have been a godsend. Paired with a Superfeet insole I feel like a kid again. These Mantras are no exception. They are lightweight and have less outsole forefoot cushioning than say the Crossmax. They are a lower profile shoe and great for walking or running when you don't want to wear a heavier shoe. They are quite breathable, have a sockliner, almost seamless, work with insoles/orthotics and have the speedlacing system which I have grown to love. Not my high mileage shoe and personally I would not use them on the roughest terrain but I love them for light, easy days.

Really like this shoe.
The only real problem I have with this shoe is the quick lace, I have trouble getting it to loosen up, it would be great if it have a catch release on it, but I haven't figured out the trick to these laces yet. They are a little big, I usually wear a 7.5 and that is what I ordered, but I probably could have worn a 7. I like a little extra toe box space, as I have a lot of trouble with my feet. All is all I am very happy with this shoe.

Light and Sharp Looking
Nice and light weight. Although I don't run, I walk in them a lot. Snug enough that you almost don't need the cinch laces. One thing, the pocket that holds the laces is close to the top laces and it is a little bit of a challenge to get the laces tucked.

I really like these shoes
These shoes run a little bit large. Yet, probably not for people with medium to large width size. My feet are narrow. I really like these shoes. The traction is so good I occasionally 'trip' on the carpet, but out doors or on hard terrain, they are great.

A gift for my wife.
I am a long time Salomon wearer and saw these and thought she would like the looks. She says they are pretty and comfortable but not for running, just too flat footed and stiff (her words). But she wears them on the street and when working out at the gym, just not running.

Love them!
I researched shoes for a couple weeks hoping to find the right shoe for me. I wanted something comfortable enough to wear around all day doing simple errands, but also something that could perform while hiking and mountain biking. These shoes were it. My feet are narrow and I have a high arch. They fit perfectly and do not rub anywhere. They are very comfortable. I tend to prefer minimalist shoes, but these are very light and durable. I did order a half-size smaller as recommended by other reviewers and they fit perfect.
