Compelling
Quite a wonderful read! An absorbing tale of it’s own but also a great retelling of the Arthurian myth. Morgana la Faye is reborn in an entirely unexpected way. Here she is completely transformed into a real person, complex and powerful. This is truly a unique story and even knowing the usual plot elements does not prepare you for the wholly unexpected take on Gorlois, Uther, Igraine and Morgan. And though Arthur is not present often, he too is unexpected and fresh, even to me who has read every retelling of the Arthurian legend. Also I was truly refreshed by the take on “true love” as described here. I can’t wait to read the next book!

Excellent!
When I am sorry that a book ends - leaving me wanting to keep reading- that means that I have truly enjoyed the book. That is how I feel now as I finished the last page. I suppose it helps that I am a fan of the Arthurian legends, of Merlin and Morgaine. Merlin was not highlighted in a positive way in this book - contrary to how I usually think of him from reading other Arthurian books. In this book, King Arthur first appears midway through the read and is a half brother to Morgan who is married to King Urien and who is none too fond of Merlin the wizard.I am bound now to read another book by this talented writer!

New perspective on King Arthur story.
I've read many of the stories of King Arthur, but never one from Morgan's perspective. Really appreciate the author's ability to imagine & create the details of the story.

Stunning retelling of Morgan le Fay
A beautifully written retelling of Morgan le Fay’s story from Arthurian legend, this story hooked me right from the prologue.Set during in a time where men had all the power and women were expected to marry who they were told and to have children (preferably sons), Morgan’s biggest desire is to seek knowledge, which presents its challenges. This is a story of love, power, and survival, and I was completely enthralled. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the sequel.I highly recommend this book if you like:📖Arthurian legend📖strong women📖forbidden romance📖court and political intrigue📖magic📖found family📖closed door romance (no explicit spice)

Enjoyable read/audible
This is my first historical book rotating around Arthur’s story and I truly enjoyed reading it and listening to the audible (free btw on Audible subscription).I loved Morgan’s character and I fell in love with her, her relationships and my heart broke when hers did as well. I can’t wait to read the next book coming out in July.

Review
A feminist retelling of Morgan le Fay. Began very “not like the other girls” and then she became of them, sheltering like her mother with a husband of her own that was worth nothing close to what she was. As the book went on, it feels like the beginning to something broader and it would be nice to see another book, turning this into either a duology or a trilogy. Morgan’s power was just hinted at and begun to be explored over the ten years covered of her practice. To see her truly flourish would be great. The side characters were not fleshed out enough, even Alys, with her interest in midwifery. She was very much relegated to the side and became a non entity at times, even though she was the most important person in Morgan’s life.

this story is craftily magnificent and will keep the pages turning.
If you are fascinated by the tale of King Arthur and his court, then this tale of the lesser-known Morgan LeFay will satisfy your thirst for lore. Well written and fast paced (but not so fast that it seems rushed), this story is craftily magnificent and will keep the pages turning. This story follows Morgan LeFay, daughter of a Cornish lord and high-born Lady, born with a gift of healing and a mind of her own to use it. After the death of her beloved father, her mother is tricked by Merlin into bed and marriage with Uther Pendragon. Raised as a Princess by her stepfather who she despises, she is sent to a nunnery to be taught. There she discovers her passion for healing and along sider her dearest friend and companion, is taught by the best teachers they have to offer. But the talent of a squire catches more than her eye and she is in awe. Now a grown Lady, her Stepfather and King summon her to the castle where she is to be married off against her will.Passionate young love, heartbreak, struggles of women of the time in a patriarchal society, determination and passive defiance, found family, magic and Arthurian Lore. The bonds that Morgan forms with those whom she shares blood with and those who she chooses for her inner most circle is heartwarming. And her defiance in being walked over by the men she is surrounded with makes me proud. Cannot wait for book 2!!

Morgan the Fay
This is a well written novel that dwells (a little too obviously) on the condition of women of the time. But which time?Much of the saga seems to take place in medieval times (Westminster Abbey has been built) whereas the Arthurian legend predates that. Not quite enough Morgan magic for my liking but I am hoping to find that in the sequel...

Brilliant take on the Arthurian legend
Morgan is my Name is a fresh take on the Arthurian legend. Sophie Keetch breathes life into an old old tale by taking as her protagonist the sorceress Morgan le Fay. Usually a side character in Arthur's story, here we follow her from childhood to marriage and motherhood. We witness her rage when Uther Pendragon murders her father and with Merlin's help, tricks her mother into marriage. We see a young woman in the royal court, a princess but powerless, a pawn to be traded in marriage to ally kingdoms. The men around her shape her while secretly she develops her formidable powers. Before I'd read more than a handful of pages, I wanted to know when the sequel will be released - that's how gripping and immersive this story is. Putting Morgan le Fay centre stage has turned Arthur's story on its head in a most brilliant way, and I'm very much looking forward to the next book.

I love it!
I did not lightly come to a rating of 5 stars for this book. There is simplicity and genius in this part 1of 3 retelling of Morgan Le Fay's story. It draws you in, revealing a misogyny rarely laid bare in the original idylls and stories - gauling really that I, a woman, never saw or thought to debunk this previously: all the female characters either requiring saving or being scheming witches, not acting positively from their own agency for the good of all. Instead here we are treated to leal, educated, self-taught (for the love of knowledge and not just the power it can bring - though the realisation of this is brilliantly rendered) women. Brava Ms. Keetch, Brava! I cannot wait for the rest of Morgan's story!
