I'm skeptical about supplements and 'miracle cures' of all types. Do they really work, or would your dog just naturally have got better anyway over time? You don't usually dare take them off the treatment again to find out! We do know Extend makes a big difference to our 14-year-old labrador though. She has the usual range of arthritic joint problems, and is on the usual painkillers. When we first put her on Extend a couple of years back she became noticeably more mobile and happier within about a month of use. Then there was an Extend supply problem last year and we had to move her onto a different joint supplement - she went significantly downhill within a few weeks. The supply problem resolved and we put her back on Extend - she was much better again within another few weeks. That's good enough for me. It's certainly not the cheapest supplement around, but for us it works, so it's worth it.

I’ve been giving this to my 9 year old spaniel for nearly a month. While I haven’t seen a huge difference, he has been happy enough in himself. I’m not fond of the powder format, but find if I mix it with a little food and water he doesn’t seem to mind the taste. I would like to see more information on the content for collagen and MSM as the only information given is for glucosamine at 300mg. Research shows me this isn’t an optimal dose for the size of my dog.

My dog has been using this for almost a year now. She had injuries which have led now to arthritis. She is 11yrs old and we were using a buggy on longer walks with our other dogs. The difference was amazing within a few weeks. The buggy has been used twice. I have taken it with us but she just plods on. I was sceptical at first but willing to try anything as she was on tramadol for pain relief. We are down from 4 tabs a day to 1, or 2 if it is wet and cold. She is obviously in less pain and is back to play fighting with her brother. I would say try it. Money wise it is costing the same but she is a much happier dog.

Extend seems to be starting to work for my Staffy after 1 month of her taking it, although she is also on other medication for her arthritis, so could be that working. I do think it's a little expensive, but everyone knows most pet owners will pay over the top for anything that seems to work.I will try it for a couple more months before saying it has definitely made a difference to my girl.There are so many joint supplements out there and most are a little cheaper, so will wait and see.
