Silver Linings Playbook [Blu-ray]

This movie well deserved all of its award nominations including its four, outstanding Oscar Winners! All of the leading characters were seen to have mental health problems of one kind or another, and that made for some really intense acting and some difficult scenes - but the overall likeability of them all shone through and you were willing them all on to succeed throughout! At the climax of the story - the dance competition and its immediate aftermath - we were glued to the edge of our seats and I've rarely seen such a satisfyingly brilliant ending to a film!!!This is a MUST SEE for EVERYONE!

As a Bipolar sufferer I always dread the usual cliche'd portrayal of mental health conditions in the vast degrees of forms they appear to us in, But perfect screen couple Jennifer and Bradley do an excellent job in what is a really funny, sweet, beautifully acted movie with a top-notch soundtrack.Why do I never seem to attract gorgeous women eager to dance with me when I go jogging?A real feel-god film, life affirming movie deserving a place in everyone's collection

Can a relationship work when both of you are have mental health issues? A man is married and his relationship breaks down due his behavior and discovering his wife with another man he goes ballistic beating the man up and is put into a mental health institution. He still loves his wife and although there is a restraining order against him he is determined to get his life back on track and show her he is a changed man. One of the things he does is to start running and he meets a highly strung young woman whilst jogging and he wants to get a letter to his wife and she agrees but wants something in return. He must learn to dance so they compete in a competition she entered. In his mind he is getting straight and we see how their friendship grows and how he starts to re-evaluate what or who he wants in his life.

I'm not a Rom-Com fan. I find the comedy lightweight, the stories fluffy & the outcome is always predictable. But this is an exception. The story is predictable, but the performances & the comedy are top notch. There's a real air of charm from every character, who all appear to have hang-ups of some sort (don't we all). But I ended up warming to them all & it's not just the two leads who steal the show - the phenomenal cast are all on their game here.And Robert De Nero has finally appeared in a decent movie turning in a great performance, considering the poor choices & some of the rubbish he's appeared in from recent years.A film to be seen & even if you're not a Rom-Com fan, this stands head & shoulders above all the others. I loved it!

Bradley Cooper falls flat on his face in his incapacity to portray his role. Who is the genius who thought that this cute half baked comedian could play such a composition role ? Anyway, he turns the movie into a farce. Robert de Niro gets lost not knowing why he plays second fiddle to a moron. Nothing goes to plan and the director should now be barred from Hollywood for wasting Bob's time and reputation on a rotten slate.

This is one of my favourite movies - it presents dysfunctional people in real and compelling ways. The story line is great and I felt I really cared what would happen to each of the individuals in the film.Acting from everyone is spot on - Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, though playing 'strange' flawed people, are easy to fall in love withAmazon had this discounted at £1.42 for prime delivery - bargain for a brand new DVD - thanks!

I found this film a little difficult to rate. Although it is categorised as a comedy, i didn't find it that funny. It was amusing in places, but i didnt find myself laughing out loud. I was also in two minds about whether the humour was to a certain extent based on the underlying issues that the characters may have had and in places it didn't feel right to be laughing at their predicament. Putting these uncertainties aside, i also found it to be a slow starter. However, as the film went along, I found the quirkiness of the characters to be reasonably endearing, and this, for me, determined the overall rating. Had it not been for the endearing quirky characters, I think i would have rated this two stars.

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence in a romantic comedy? Hold me back. This is a film that didn’t interest me at all, however finding myself with nothing to do one Friday morning, I decided to give it a chance. The story is of two people with mental issues who strike up a friendship. Funny and touching, it also has a couple of scenes that are bit difficult to watch. Brilliant performances and an original take on the genre separates this from the usual glossy affair. Yes, it’s clichéd and a little predictable, but it is a rom-com and plays by the genre’s rules. It’s also unashamedly brilliant.
