I love this winder!
I'm glad I bought this yarn winder. The last 3 skeins of Caron I've bought have been very tangled so it's a little more challenging to use a yarn winder with a skein that's tangled and knotted, but this little winder has made it easier. However, I did have to go a little slower but it ended up faster than stopping every few minutes to straighten out the yarn directly from the skein. I had trouble with the yarn guide but found out I wasn't pulling it out far enough to where it "snaps" into place. Once I did that, it works like a charm. Makes a nice size yarn-cake. I recommend it and it's a good price, too.

Works
Box needs better instructions. Pull the rod in the back HARD and far out. Pull harder than you'd think. You feel like you're going to break it. After you do that it works great. Have used it quite a bit. Holds up good.

I used it once and now it just sits was a waste of time and
Yarn gets all twisted and handle does not stay in a place its free swinging. It requires to much doing and undoing just to get a ball instead of a skein. I used it once and now it just sits was a waste of time and money

Arrived broken; Company's satisfaction guarantee.
I'm disappointed. The Beatinest Us yarn winder arrived today and I waited until after dinner to pull it out only to discover the spindle had a large crack across the base.Update: I'm adding a star to my review because Beatinest Us contacted me within about an hour to try to rectify this.Final update: Beatinest Us said they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. They sent me a new winder within a week and it had no broken parts in it. I was finally able to try it out and am fully satisfied with the function of the Beatinest Us Yarn Ball Winder. It took a couple tries to figure out how to keep good tension on the yarn while winding, but it's not difficult to use at all. There are directions on the box for how to put this together, and pulling the guide arm out does take a little extra muscle, but it's not too hard to do. Since the bottom of the base is textured, I would recommend that if this will be attached to a wood desk or table to put something under it to prevent scratches just in case.

Do any of these work like they’re supposed to?
Hey.. this thing “works”: I end up with a yarn cake every time. But the threader/feeder (metal bar that ya thread the yarn through) does not, and WILL NOT lock into place. It shifts, and also falls slap over. When that happens, your yarn goes wonky, and gets wrapped around the bottom of the bobbin base, wrapping repeatedly sometimes before ya catch it. Such a hassle. Also a hassle is that, in order to get a yarn cake with as little stress as possible, ya really need 2 people to operate this: one to crank, and one to hold that booger of a threader in place so ya don’t ruin your cake-in-progress, or your yarn. Good thing I have a kiddo who actually enjoys the cranking... for now.As an aside, I don’t have a permanent home to give this thing, so it goes back into the box after each use. Unfortunately, the fit is awkward and super snug. And because of the odd shape of the two pieces, it’s a hassle to get it precisely in there in such a way that the box will actually close properly. This will be a total non issue for some, but is a ‘thing’ for me... at least until I get tired of the rubik’s cube event after every winding, and just find a daggum basket in which to store this sucker.Do I recommend? Sigh... I dunno. I suppose, if having a yarn cake is super important to ya. Cute, useful yarn bowls require yarn that will actually FIT into them, and that’s the draw of a yarn cake.I bought this to save the time and hassle spent anytime my yarn gets tangled up mid-project, but so far, I am probably investing the same amount of time trying to prevent tangles. If the daggum threader would only lock into place, I could give this product the highest marks, but this malfunction/poor design just really ruins it for me. This seems to be an extremely common problem with ALL winders, though, and is hardly isolated to this particular brand.

Quality and Refund
I bought this for my sister during the holidays of 2017. She has enjoyed it so far, but; the quality is not there. We love supporting small businesses across the country, however; we notice it was made in China and we understand how cheap and poor quality Chinese products are today. Yes, we understand the cost to make it and the consumer pays for the total cost. It is just that we do not want our dollars going to China and this small business company did not disclose to consumers where it is made. I originally gave a review from an email with a 1 star. Although, I notice a "refund notice" in my email today. I honestly do not mind the refund because it seems this company really cares for their costumer. Again, I really did not ask for a refund. However, I am only going to give another star to the total of 2 stars. I honestly want to give a three and half (is that possible on Amazon?) or three stars but this logically sound for a 2 star rating on what is described above. One last thing I would like to positively say: do support small businesses locally in your city, state and across the country!

Pull the metal arm all the way out.
This winder is excellent. As others have mentioned, there aren’t really any instructions in the box; so when you get it you will think the metal arm is either loose, broken, or crappy. It’s not. Just tug on it—it WILL feel unnatural like you’re going to break it, but you won’t. I did that, and it hasn’t moved since. I love the retro colors, and it’s relatively quiet. I have it on a work bench that isn’t a big deal if it gets damaged; I agree that maybe it should have a thin piece of rubber or something along the bottom and table bracket to keep it from damaging furniture. For what you pay for, it’s perfect.

This is an excellent product. It works perfectly as described and was easy to set up. I made a dozen "cake" balls the first day. I love that it is quiet and winds without tangling. It is exactly what I was looking for to make perfect center pull skeins. As indicated on the instructions, it cannot wind a super-sized skein--you will have to do these in 2 parts--but I knew that at purchase and it is not a problem--just be aware that it is not designed for the super-sized skeins. You will be delighted with the product.
