Works as advertised but simple software features missing
Installation and connection was very easy. I have Deco mesh and didn’t have to do anything special. I also restart my network every week and didn't have any reconnection issues like others claimed. Lock works as intended.I am negatively surprised that basic triggers and notifications are missing from the app . The company commented on the forums in 2022 that these are under development, it should be a 1 day job:- You cannot lock/unlock it at a certain time, let's say I want to lock at 11pm to make sure I didn't forget my door unlocked- You cannot get a notification if the door is left unlocked (not open) for x amount of time or at x o'clockI had to use my IFTTT account for timed locking. I didn’t try Alexa features. Of course, if the wifi is disconnected, then IFTTT becomes useless and door will not lock itself.

Good lock without the extra stuff
I opened this lock up, thinking I might trade out the cylinder for my previous Schlage lock cylinder, to save the effort of buying more keys. I found that the ultraloq has a solid brass cylinder that looks MUCH nicer than the zinc Schlage. I decided I was happier using the new key. All the internals look much better than I expected at the price.I recently replaced the seal insulation on my door. Unfortunately that means I need to pull the door closed and extra bit for the lock to work. It's a small price to pay for a very nice lock. I decided not to use the auto lock on this door, it seems unnecessary. I don't think the auto unlock using Bluetooth does anything for me because of the tightness of my door right now. Not the locks fault.Programming using Bluetooth and the app was easy. My kids love using this lock!Basically, I feel like I got more than my money's worth. Exactly what I needed at the right price.

So far, so good!
My Yale/Nest lock became increasingly flakey, going offline sporadically until, after resetting it many times, it eventually refused to connect at all. (I worked the problem for a *long* time before giving up and buying this as a replacement. There were a lot of people online with the same problem and the "fixes" didn't help.)I was pleasantly surprised that the installation was easy. The only part of the installation that was poorly documented was the bit about the door sensor. The door sensor monitors whether the door is physically shut or not (since the deadbolt can be operated regardless of whether the door is open or closed). I watched the YouTube video and it explained things better that the written instructions, so, overall, installation was problem-free.The app is a little over-engineered, in my opinion. You set up "Addresses", "Locations" within an Address, and "Devices" within a location. I suppose it makes sense if, for example, you owned several properties with multiple buildings on each, with every unit in every building having two or more devices. For a person like me, with just one lock at a vacation home, it's overkill and unnecessarily complicated. The features of the app are great, comparable to what I had with the Yale/Nest lock. The two major differences are 1) that the ULTRALOQ has a sensor for when the door is open or shut and 2) the way to handle dead batteries. The Yale/Nest lock has contacts on the outside where you hold up a 9-volt battery to the lock, powering it long enough to get it unlocked. The ULTRALOQ has physical keys. I like having the physical keys very much, but they are no use if the physical key is not present. For example, if I wanted to give access to guests and the batteries were dead, I would have to drive hours to meet with them and get the door unlocked. It would be ideal to have both features: battery terminals AND physical keys. But I can't really knock it for not having a feature that I already knew it lacked. That said, the ULTRALOQ app tells me how strong the batteries are, which the Yale/Nest lock does not do. Another cool feature of the ULTRALOQ is that I can take it off the WiFi (and lose remote control capability) to extend battery life. I don't want to do that, but it's cool that it's possible.Replacing the batteries is easier with the ULTRALOQ. You need a tool or thin toothpick to get the battery cover off the Yale/Nest lock. The ULTRALOQ cover comes off just by applying gentle pressure. The ULTRALOQ has an "autolock" feature which seems a little too aggressive. I turned this off because I sometimes want to leave the front door open without the lock taking it upon itself to lock within seconds. There is also a feature to automatically unlock whenever a configured Bluetooth device approaches. That's also too automatic for me, but some users might appreciate it.Updating the firmware on the ULTRALOQ was a big pain. It took several attempts which failed randomly, despite the WiFi being strong and my phone being right next to the lock. That did not bode well, as it reminded me of trouble I've had with other devices. But it eventually worked.I would change my rating from four to five stars if the firmware updates worked more reliably and if the app was organized more intuitively. But, so far, the lock is working well and it has almost all the features I want.

Over a year of using
In the beginning, the installation and setup of the device was easy. The only issue I seemed to run into initially around that time of June/July of 2023 was the Wi-Fi adapter or "bridge." It would not connect even if you had it right beside the device less than 6 inches away and it was on the right type of Wi-Fi as well. However, sometimes it would just show that it was not connected but at times it really was. As days turned into weeks that issue never came up even after having to move the bridge or power outage happened, etc. They'd always connect back up to each other without fail. The family loves it and so do I. I enjoy having the peace of mind that it locks up if I or someone else forgets to lock up because we may have our hands full etc. I recently days ago finally had my first and true issue where for some reason the device would not lock up all the way and give a jam notice. Even if you didn't have the door shut, it would jam up on its own when attempting to lock up. I called customer service and they already had my information and sent me a test to give them the results via email response and currently they have a part replacement on the way under warranty. They're super cool and I am missing not having to use keys and am forgetting to lock the door while it's still down. I've had this over a year and it's a great investment and spend in my opinion based on experience and family's experience. I also love being able to make temporary users for when we're not home but need to let a repair person in and you can also give the temp users a set schedule when their codes work and how many times they can use their codes with set times and dates etc.I also strongly recommend to explain to new users that they need to wait for the green light to come on when inputting their entry codes because that indicates the deadbolt is fully unlocked. It does not retract in milliseconds, it takes about 1-2 seconds. You can also make spare copies of the keys at an Ace Hardware store under the Hillman brand, those work perfectly like the ones that came with the device. Great product and am not sure why the alert of Frequently Returned Item is on this.
