Everyone loves cracking open nuts around Christmas time (except those with allergies), but on more than one occasion I've sent them flying across the room when they slip out the nut cracker or suddenly realised that it looks like I've mulched the lounge carpet around me with nut shell so I wanted to get the best nut cracker I could find.I originally tried to order some big horizontal contraption with a lever and piston but they were out of stock so when for this as a temporary replacement but after using it decided this is the one for me.It's a fairly heavy item and feels pretty sturdy and the handles have never bent under the strain of a particularly hard nut. The cracking bit looks like that sand creature's mouth in Star Wars that eats Boba Fett, with little bits sticking out. These grip the nut pretty tightly so no more nut based projectiles, plus they do quite well at catching most of the bits of shell but you still need a hand underneath to catch the smaller pieces that slip through the gap, especially on a larger nut.The handles are fairly close together with a nut in place so it can be used by younger, smaller hands without too much bother and the shape of the cracking end does help to crack most nuts with less effort then a conventional cracker.

I have arthritis in my hands and this makes opening prosecco so easy. Its really well made and works a treat.

In 49 years of marriage I had never opened a bottle of anything before as my husband always opened wine etc.When he passed away a friend brought me this bar craft all in one.It was easy to use . I was amazed and very proud of myself when I opened my first bottle of Prosecco.

This is THE definitive nutcracker design. This particular one is perhaps a bit heavy, but it's very sturdy and cracks nuts of any size gently but firmly without straining the wrist. We'd found a similar one in France years ago, and have been looking for the same thing in the UK. Now we have his and hers.
