This is a lovely book that will educate your child ...
This is a lovely book that will educate your child about the animals true behaviors in winter. I am an early educator and it is treasured book in our class!...especially for the 3 year old children.

An extremely satisfying book for a 6 year old
I bought this book as a gift for a toddler niece, but previewed it with my son. He was so inspired by the illustrations that he wanted to know more about all of the animals, but especially about the porcupines and what those little weird shaped things outside the porcupine's bed are. He shared what he learned in the book with his dad and older sister and has requested his own copy of The Animals' Winter Sleep. My only disgreement with the other reviews is about the book being relaxing. My kid is itching for some snow, so he can get out there and learn even more.

Selected as Book of the Month for Your Big Backyard nature magazine
This gentle winter tale is perfect for lulling young ones to sleep. Rhyming text describes how 13 North American animals adapt to the winter cold. Colored pencil illustrations show bears, squirrels, and beavers taking cover in their dens, nests, and lodges. An educational section at the end of the book illustrates various animal tracks and provides information on winter foods, nesting materials, and survival strategies.National Wildlife Federation Book Review, Your Big Backyard December 2008 Book of the Month
