"Beeswax Blend" includes paraffin, which has 5 EPA carcinogens in it. This is a company that strongly promotes beeswax at every turn, then dilutes their beeswax with paraffin. Also, the title says "unscented", this is not true and smells very strongly of bad perfume, no specific essential oils listed. This lack of transparency is really what gets 1 star, be honest about what you're exposing people to with your products. If you use real healthy ingredients you don't have to hide them. At this price point, I expected a lot better.

I have been looking for some quality candles for years, and always been disappointed until today. Color me totally impressed... Root makes their candles the " Traditional " and " Old Fashioned " way.. This is exactly what I wanted.. I have even made mine own candles from scratch prepared and blended waxes, so I know a bit about them. I really like that these are not made with paraffin or tallow as well, and that they take time... in making them so they burn down smoothly, without smell, or smoke, or needing to be trimmed. The 7/8" size base is odd for me since all of my candle holders for tapers are of more traditional size with the exception of my antique Edwardian bronze stick.These candles may be Ridiculously expensive and TG I caught what I needed when it was on sale, but I do not regret my purchase one bit. I really like that I can see the dip rings just like tree rings.. This is an absolute sign of care in production...The candles are also definitely and very smoothly colored all the way through. I do not burn candles very often any more, but definitely demand quality when I do. My lungs are a bit sensitive these days, so any candle with paraffin in it stinks to me and causes me to be sensitive. The the blend of natural waxes Root uses was appealing because of this.. There is absolutely no discernible smell of any consequence and neither do they bother my lungs, like most other candles.Thank you Root, for continuing to make " Quali'tay " Traditional candles like I have always known all of my life.. I will use your products from now on..

The candles look as advertised. The texture on them is nice for my antique candelabra, slick, shiny ones would not be as attractive.*** The labels are terrible! There is adhesive all the way around the candles. It is very difficult to start peeling it off and while pulling it lifts the texture. Fortunately, the texture can be gently pushed back down. RECOMMENDATION FOR SELLER: Save money and just use tape to attach the labels.

I bought two of these that were exactly the same. Burned them tonight for the first time, side by side. One is perfect and only burned down a little bit, perfectly even. The other one burned most of the way down in the middle of the candle, made a hole and dripped wax all over my counter. They were literally side by side and I lit them at the exact same time. For $20 each, I expected better.

I was cautious about buying this because I thought the price was a little high, though the quality of this candle and in comparison to the other choices I feel at ease now. The candle is made well- very big at 9 inches so it will last a long time and the best part is a nice relaxing and soothing aroma versus a irritating synthetic smell. I'm going to be purchasing more for the holiday season.

I have always like Root candles so was happy to find these in the color and size I needed. They burn well (little-to-no-smoke) and last a long time even though we burn them for hours and hours at a time. I will always go for Root candles.

I love this candle and I'm so glad that I've found it online. What I love about it, is it burns evening until it is almost gone. When I first saw this candle and the price I thought I'd just go to target or walmart and grab a cheap candle, but the clerk challenged me to get this candle and go and get a cheap candle of the same size from another store. The cheap one smoked, the cheap on bubbled out and didn't burn evenly. To keep the cheap one burning after the first 3 inches burned I had to cut off the top wax and drain some of the wax. The root candle burned longer, kept it's smell longer, burned evenly, and there was never any smoke. Since that time I have been buying the ginger patchouli scented roots candle for 8 years. I was sad when the store I purchased it from closed, but I am oh so happy to finally find my favorite candle online! I have it burning right now, and it smells divine!

These are beautiful and the wax smells nice (not a strong smell as they are unscented but a nice smell). I first saw them in a store display and the color range is gorgeous. They are irregularly sized I’m assuming due to the handpoured nature which is nice but that means some fit in my candlesticks and some don’t - they are either too thick and need to be shaved down or too thin and lean. I’m still glad I got them as they are lovely and will probably buy this brand again.
