Promote Systems Promote Control, Shutter Cable CN3 for Canon Cameras

This is a more than adequate cable for basic triggering. It is a single cable made of strong, taut material. The connectors appear firm and sturdy and likely to take repetitive use.I have yet to put it thru any real testing aside from the basic inspection but this is not an advanced triggering cable. It is basic in that it does not offer a pre-triggering focus option like the more advanced cables. Using this cable with a PocketWizard Plus III and Canon 7D means that the triggering Plus III's half press does nothing to actuate the camera pre-focus. The full press on the Plus III focuses as well as trigger the shutter. Consequently, I would have to conclude that the half press also does not wake the camera. Full press on the Plus III should wake, focus, and release the shutter introducing a great degree of lag time thus introducing the possibility of losing the optimal capture point. However, if you use this cable with full manual focus mode you're likely to have far faster responsiveness.In conclusion, this cable works very well for a basic cable. However, if you need something a bit more advanced as will I, I personally recommend spending the money on the more advanced PocketWizard cable for your camera type.

I purchased the promote control for a job I had anticipated and didn't end up doing and got this cable in the mix. It worked fine and exactly as promised. I did not end up needing it, so I returned it and the return went flawlessly.Much appreciation to Norman Camera and Amazon for both delivering a great product and accepting the return so easily. You shoot Canon cameras and are using the Promote system and would like to do more than three shots, you need this shutter cable. In my opinion, it is pointless to use the Promote system without this cord.
