It gets the job done but it is NOT 8" long... actual penetration depth is about 4.5" (and yes, that is what she said).

Starts out good. Short lived! (Installed a dryer vent thru house brick/mortar)
Shame on Bosch, all i can think to say. It drilled thru the mortar part decent enough. Luckily my center was thru cross of it, I did 2 more from inside again thru mortar Moved outside, started a hole thru actual brick. First hole was accurately difficult, being not the mortar. Started 2nd hole, got 1/2 inch at most and i started to see tip get red or sparks, whatever you want to call it. Yep, i was not going any further. Moved to try 3rd, Dead useless, I was able to turn hammer drill speed down and attempted to make little starter nipples for the rest. Were talking like 16-18 more needed to take chisel to brick and break out. I had to go find any masonry bits i owned, like 2-3. Now i have none. I melted tips to both them. I got 1 1/2 more complete holes. I decided i just have to start chiseling. I went inside and chiseled with a smaller one to crack the brick so when i got to from outside maybe i save face. It worked. I went back and finally chiseled out the hole. 45 minutes of chisel with carefulness. The Bit was new, i had to break the holder to remove from it's Bosch packaging. So i know it was a new Bosch 3/8 8 in. It even says SDS Bulldog PLus on pkg. But it will never be able to use again properly. Not even sure will work on just mortar? The tip i now looks like a drill bit no tip wing. So if you plan on going thru concrete or mortar, buy it and hope finish project. If your going thru brick to install dryer vent like i did, better have back up mortar bits to ruin as well as the Bosch. Again i'm disappointed with Bosch product, and it'a ability to go thru brick. As much as i liked to taken pictures. I spent almost 4 hrs on this project, stopping to take pictures and being irritated, wasn't my thought. I was trying to avoid 5 trips to home store and having a mess.

Great SDS Plus rotary hammer bit
I have really put this bit to work lately. Drilling many 1/2" holes about 4 inches deep in foundation concrete. The carbide bit has held up excellent and should last much longer. The bit is slightly longer than 8" which is alright since some of that length is actually from the SDS plus connection inside the rotary hammer. Just make note that even though the bit is 8", you will not get that same 8" of penetration. The flutes do a great job at removing all of the dust that is made down in the hole and I never have to back the drill out to clear the bit.

I would recommend but drilling rocks the life of the bit will vary.
Used this for drilling hole in boulders to split them. Works great and lasts pretty good. I wish it did last longer hence 4 stars. That said I have 13 of these bits and have drilled over 1000 holes in several hardness's of rock. Having more bits and only drilling 1 hole per bit to keep them cool and then wait till they are cool extends the life. Also hit the right speed they last longer than going fast. I know it's hard when you drill more than a few holes to not try to go fast...

Pretty surprised as to how well it works
I wasn't expecting how well this 3/4 concrete hammer bit worked. I used it to install 48 concrete anchor bolts for my 2 hoists. Using my hammer drill, and drilling into 6" rebar supported, concrete fiber mesh, and hitting the rebar more that a couple of times, it kept right on drilling. I am now getting ready to bolt a vehicle rotisserie to the floor, and I don't think I will have any problems drilling the anchor holes. Darn good product.

Works really well!
This drill bit cut through our garage concrete like it was wood. I had to drill 16 holes to anchor our 4 post lift. I went into it planning on taking my time and not expecting to blow through the project quickly. I set a vacuum next to the holes as I drilled and this drill bit cut completely through the concrete incredibly fast. The bit barely heated up as well. It’s cool when products exceed expectations.

The product photo is pretty bad, so I added a better one
The product photo is pretty bad, so I added a better one. The 3/4 inch bit is made with the same material (dark grey, matte finish) and same machining as other Bosch bits. Got mine for an amazing $13 with an Amazon discount that was given to me automatically at checkout! This is easily a $20 bit. Always had good results with Bosch bits and tools. I expect no less from this monster.

Does exactly what you want it to do!
I had to drill 1/2" holes for stainless wedge anchors for six gazebo posts into an 18" concrete slab. I have never drilled in concrete so I was relying on the Bosch legacy and the power of my SDS drill to make it happen. This bit worked beautifully and made the job exactly what you would expect and hope for.

Drills into bedrock granite
Seems to be working well. Don't let it get too hot. I dunk in water to cool it off after half way through each hole. I'm drilling into bedrock granite. Blow out hole to let drill keep cutting cleanly.

Good long lasting bit.
Great bits. Long lasting and fast drilling. Just keep the water going on them when drilling. And they can be re - sharpened by a good sharpening shop.
