The original stug was designed as an infantry support weapon, but in response to skirmishes with soviet armour it was upgraded with an anti-tank gun and the stug g was born. With their Low, turretless silhouette they proved most effective in defensive roles and were especially deadly when carrying out ambushes.

My son is obsessed!
First, this company is pretty awesome. My 9 year old is obsessed with these tanks. His 14 year old brother helps him put the tanks together and he has put many together himself. He literally creates battle maps with pieces of felt and fake trees and spends hours having tank battles. I don't understand it, but I do know he has learned a lot of history from these cards/this game and asks me questions about Stalin, knows the names of all the tanks and what is great about them, etc. etc. etc.I prefer this over video games, and find it fascinating that he prefers these over video games (World of Tanks). I don't quite understand why he loves having these battles, and he actually prefers to play by himself. He strategically places tanks and rocks and cover places and just battles it out, sometimes for hours. The tanks are good quality and barrels may break if the child is rough, but we don't have issues with it. They are little models and not neccessarily toys, but he uses them as toys. He is always telling me which one he needs next :)

The crews liked them, and although these were not very powerful ...
The STUG was the most common of German armored vehicles during WW2. The Germans built roughly 10,000 of them, out of a total of perhaps 95,000 armored vehicles during the war. The crews liked them, and although these were not very powerful or aggressive, the Germans had a lot of success using them as 'ambush' vehicles: park a STUG in hiding, wait for an enemy tank, and them fire on the enemy by surprise. These vehicles are cheap at 15 points, so you'll want to pick up a few and play them in a pack. As they are "assault guns" rather than tanks, they don't have a turret that swivels. The STUG only has forward direction firing, so play accordingly!
