Extremely loose, not compacted like most. With this much air and everything that loose it’s harder for spores to fuse together. There are better brands out there.

I’ve been doing mycology for a few years. I got two of these and both were inoculated. One took of quick and other took a while but did fully colonize. Purchased two more and one had contamination which is upsetting but the other one was good. I know the one contaminated was not myself inoculating as I never have issues. I had products that were contaminated before and no good so I give a 4 star as so like their products and not as others say that always contaminated.

Received 4 X 4 lb bags of the Goonie Grains. 2 of them were tightly folded, the other two seemed a bit loose with grain moving around in the bag. It has a micro filter so I just packed the grain tightly ant the bottom of the bag and rolled the air out of them. Not sure if there is a moisture issues as of yet, looks ok. Inoculated the grain within an hour of receiving the package (1/17), will update in a few weeks as to whether the spawn enjoyed the Goonie Grains.

Other grain side by side with the same spawn is almost complete one month in. This one has zero activity, with two separate batches. Do Not Buy!

This one only grew green mold.

Waiting to see how new bags work out . Manufacturer sent 2 new bags and I didn't even request them. This is good. I will add a honest review when I see results. Thank you.
