Parks & Recreation - Season 1-2

The only way is up.
I'd been meaning to catch up on Parks & Recreation for quite a while, having heard nothing but praise for the show and the thousands of GIFs and memes it had generated online. Seeing as you can now pick up these early series for a very fair price, I decided to finally take the plunge.I was warned going in that although this was a great show, it didn't exactly get off to the strongest of starts and that much of the first season is sketchy. I can confirm that it was worth starting the show with that in mind, as while the (admittedly very short) first season sets things up, it's nothing extraordinary. It's not exactly bad, but it does struggle. It's worth hanging on in there though, because almost immediately with Season 2, you can notice a drastic improvement. With the first season, it has you smiling and quietly thinking "Ha, that's pretty funny", whereas the second season leaves you actually, genuinely laughing. From the very first episode of Season 2, it's so much more solid in terms of quality and overall laughs and I found myself really starting to enjoy it. Not only are the laughs much more plentiful, but it's with this season where the characters actually start to feel like real characters. Underneath all the absurdity and antics, there's some genuinely good characters and relationships going on in Parks & Recreation. The ever-optimistic and endearingly naïve Leslie, the simple but sweet Andy, and of course the show's breakout character (and of course, my personal favourite), the deadpan, cynical Ron Swanson. They all have distinguishable personalities, but there's a lot more to them than first meets the eye.Simply put, the second season is a fantastic improvement over a lukewarm first season, and it has me looking forward to watching the rest of the show. Season 2 even closes on a positive note, introducing two great new characters with a lot of potential, and either confirming or suggesting future character relationships. It's worth sticking through the six fairly mediocre episodes of Season 1 - it quickly picks up afterwards, and from what I've seen just seems to get better and better.

Can't reccomend enough.
I found it a little hard to get into, but after a few episodes it is absolutely fantastic. It just takes a bit of time building the characters. This carries on through the later series until you are truly hooked.Great to see Chris Pratt in his earlier career and Nick Offerman's character is just sublime. Many life lessons to be learned from that man! Amy Poehler plays a great role, with a few Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe to her name for her acting in this series.Although politically based, this really can be enjoyed by everyone.Always somewhere to watch it if you look about.

This is a must watch! The image might look boring and dry but don't let yourself be fooled, this is great.
Park and Rec is one of the best comedy series out there. It just gets better and better from episode to episode as all the characters develop. Unique sense of humour, great details and good storyline decisions. It's always funny and never boring although I needed a short break from Leslie from time to time during the first seasons, she gets more human in later seasons though.

I love P & R!
I'm in love with all the characters in this brilliant sit-com. Universal office humour without the excruciating angst of The Office. Makes me chuckle almost continuously. So great to have a TV series that's upbeat and sees the positives in life as well as poking fun at the dodgy stuff. Brilliant.

Give it a go!
My first thought was this is rubbish but they was nothing on telly, so stuck with it and Iam glad I did, totally fell in love with this, it's easy to watch, very funny at times and I've fallen in love with all the characters, Iam watching season 3 now and it hasn't disappointed yet!

Such a funny show, and I love having seasons 1 & ...
Such a funny show, and I love having seasons 1 & 2 together. This is a great buy! I will say that season 1 takes a bit to get into, so I actually often recommend to friends to start with season 2 because it is funnier and will capture your attention faster--and after you're hooked, you can go back to season 1 :)

Best show ever!
I'm obsessed with this show so bought 1+2 to give to my brother.Season 1 is good, but definitely the weakest of all the seasons. Stick it out even if you're not completely convinced, the show is absolutely excellent. It picks up again at season 4 which is when it enters hall of fame levels of funny.

A bit short but enjoyable
I discovered this series by watching a few episodes from season 2 on BBC iPlayer. Although season 1 is only 6 episodes long, it is worth watching as it sets the context for the series. Clearly the characters were undergoing initial development during this season and it isn't up to the same standard as the following seasons, but it is still well worth the price.
