Silvertip Badger Hair Shaving Brush Knot (20mm x 63mm)

This turned out to be a good good purchase. I bought a shave brush drip stand and it came with a pretty terrible synthetic shave brush. I was between projects so I decided to see if I could reknot the brush with a silvertip badger knot. After consulting YouTube,(the source of all practical knowledge), it turned out I had almost all the tools I needed. I did have to get some new dust masks and maritime epoxy. The project was a complete success. I do have to mention that this knot upon arrival was very....musky I guess is the way to describe it. Another way to put it is it smelled awful. This is expected of course. When you first start using this knot in whatever handle you mount it don't have very high expectations. It takes a bit over a week before you will begin to get the excellent results this brush is capable of. It was a good project with very satisfying results and a new skill set.

I was skeptical that for the price, this could compete with very expensive $100+ brushes. I've owned many shaving brushes over the years, from cheaper imitation badger, to mid-grade, to higher end silver tip. This is among the best I've ever owned. Soft but not so soft that it doesn't "dig in" a bit like some of the finer/softer silver tip, very densely packed, very little smell right out of the box and what little is there I'm sure will go away after a few uses. Don't let the price fool you, this is top quality.

Got the 28mm knot and realized I had to buy a handle. No biggie once I realized my 3 year old Vikings Blade WhiteKnight wouldn't support it and was some special screw in type.I broke in and tried the brush once without a handle which it was quite nice.. Afterwards I purchased a handle and had a better comparison to the White Knight synthetic besides the size. Its pretty easy to tell the size difference between the White Knight and this knot!Softer and absolutely nicer to start lathering and build afterwards. Huge difference over the 'upgrade' I made from a budget escali to the White Knight. I should've went for a custom knot and a $10-15 handle and used epoxy much sooner! Definitely happy with this knot although im not brush or shave fanatic so can't offer much insight or details besides softer than my previous synthetic and absolutely massive!

I finally got a chance to replace the knot on one of my old shaving brushes and I used this one. I must say it came perfect. The knot seems Tight and perfectly shaped. It looks exactly like the original. No complaints.

Excellent quality for silvertip badger, I recommend. No shedding after use and no bad smell either. Just hang it upside down after each use (let it drip down) and do not squeeze it hard, no hot water, and no wiping with towel. It will last a lifetime...

Nice thick, soft knot, with plenty of backbone. Looks great in my 40 year old handle.

It is a good knot, medium density, as described. Not much backbone. It is a bit floppy when wet.I recommend setting it deep into the socket to give it more backbone.
