Beautifully made and looks good, holds a half pound of butter just right. Very pleased with the purchase.

A replacement for my Henry Watson butter dish which I purchased in Norwich during the 1980's and very sadly broke recently. The original was earthenware whilst its replacement is glazed white China.

I bought one of these butter boxes about six months ago, and unlike other reviewers found that the lid was a reasonable fit and does not fall into the dish. However, the butter box is much bigger (132mm x 97mm internally) than it appears from the picture - consequently a typical 250g pack of butter fits in the dish with a lot of free space around it (in fact the dish would hold two packs of butter side by side). This means that air can circulate freely around the butter, which is not good for maintaining it in the best condition. I have also found that the pottery is quite soft and chips very easily. (Please note that there is also a larger version of this butter box which must be quite enormous!)

I like the shape of this butter dish butter fits in perfectly with no mess.

Wie anderswo schon gefragt: Wie "rezensiert" man eine Butterdose? Nun, hier der Versuch einer Produktbewertung.Die Butterdose wurde als Ersatz für eine vorherige von Henry Watson, aus Terracotta, gewählt und ist dieser sehr ähnlich, bis auf das Material. Leider wird die von HW nicht mehr hergestellt. Ob die Kühlung der Butter in dieser Keramikdose außerhalb des Kühlschranks ähnlich sein wird, wird sich noch zeigen, denn zum Zeitpunkt des Kaufs war es Winter.Hübsch anzusehen, passt zu jedem Geschirr, wenn es nicht allzu modern ist.Zum Thema "wackelnder Deckel": Auf dem kurzen Weg von Küche zum Esstisch o.a. ist der lose aufliegende Deckel kein Problem, da die Butterdose selbst, wie man auf dem Photo sehen kann, nach oben abgerundet ist und den Deckel somit gut aufnimmt. Runter fallen kann er nicht und wenn man am Tisch sitzt stört der lose Deckel auch nicht.Es wäre wohl störend, wenn der Deckel ähnlich den Gewürzgefässen von Henry Watson mit Gummi abgedichtet wäre, da man dann nicht mehr mit einer Hand den Deckel abheben könnte, um sich Butter zu nehmen.Ist sicher Geschmacksache, wie man es gern hätte, aber kein Mangel am Produkt.
