Review: Beautiful bible - Purchased as a gift for my son who is commencing ordination training this year. He didn't have a king James's V bible, also I felt this bible having the Apocrypha would also be useful to him. I spent a lot of time trying to find a bible that had all the things that would help him study and this one really seems to have everything he needs. He was very pleased when he received it. Review: This is the only bible you will want - This is the ultimate sword!! It’s easy to read and it’s compact to carry around. The feel of the leather is amazing plus it’ s got Christs word's in red letters. It’s hard to find a bible with an Apocrypha this one has it. Absolutely nothing negative to say about this double edge sword amazing.

Fantastic Quality
This bible is of an outstanding quality, clear print, beautifully presented and guilded. Of course it is expensive, but the quality makes up for it. The pages are thin, however there is little show through. The text is a gothic sort of aesthetic, which gives the bible a lot of character. The leather is of a nice quality too.

love it!
i love this bible. nice crispy pages. i love the texts, im accustomed to reading old english bible text. i could not have purchased a better bible. i like the fact that its covered with calfskin leather instead of swine lol. what even better is tht it contains the apocrypha! my only suggestion is whether its worth producing one with indicators for each book in this bible so its easier to find ie Psa for Psalms, Mat for Matthew etc. thank you

Fabulous Bible
Well made bible! The calfskin leather has that unmistakable smell which hits you once taken from the box. Nicely compacted in size and great all round finish.

Best match for me would be KJV leather bound in ...
This bible was exactly what I expected from the Amazon product information. It is a high quality product, and most nearly matched what I wanted from the various KJV products on the market. You can't always have everything you want, so this was only the nearest match, and it is only for that reason that I give it the 4 stars instead of 5. Best match for me would be KJV leather bound in goatskin, with apocrypha, and with larger typeface. Unfortunately, once you want KJV leather bound with apocrypha, your options are pretty limited, so couldn't satisfy other criteria. However, the type face is big enough for my aged eyes to read with spectacles, and the leather is good quality even if not the very top of the range leather. Still very pleased with this bible.

Amazing Bible. Looks amazing and feels great (really high quality). Lovely black Calfskin leather. Bought it for about 135 EUR which is ok. Love the fact that it also contains the Apocrypha, which I (as an Orthodox) have to have it in a Bible. Therefore I also bought three of them. I LOVE IT and highly recommend it.

I have had this little gem on my wish list for a very long time. I deleted it and placed back on my wish list so many times its laughable. But just recently I finally broke down and bought it. Why? Well, its the King James Bible with the Apocrypha from Cambridge Press that's why. I love the King James Bible and I have a running collection of buying the King James Bible in as many formats as possible. I love the way its sounds, I love the way it reads, I love the way its translated, I just simply love it. Now anybody who has followed me in my reviews here on Amazon knows that my main, number one and favorite English Bible is the REVISED STANDARD VERSION WITH THE EXPANDED APOCRYPHA (1977 Ed.). However, I started on the King James Bible. Now I was not on the King James Version that long because as a Greek Orthodox Christian growing up in the early to mid 80's the RSV with Expanded Apocrypha was our unofficial OFFICIAL English Bible. The RSV was in all our services, liturgical readings, etc. However, our Russian Orthodox brothers and sisters over in the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia were devoted to the King James Version of the Bible with the Apocrypha in their liturgical and biblical readings, services, etc., and still are to this day. Now why is that? Well according to some well in the know ROCOR people its because the Russian Orthodox Council in Moscow in 1917 actually recommended the use of the King James Version of the Bible among the Russian Orthodox faithful in the English-Speaking part of the world. At the time there really weren't any other English versions of the Holy Bible so it seemed like a logical choice at the time. However, that recommendation stuck even when better English Bible versions came out, and has stuck to this day. In ROCOR the King James Bible is almost, ALMOST, treated like the Septuagint (i.e. a divinely inspired translation). So its not technically KJV Onlyism, but is close. In any event, because such a large part of the English-Speaking part of the Orthodox Church uses and admires the KJV of the Bible I bought it and now use it from time to time. The King James Version with the Apocrypha it still to this day a very well translated and very accurate English translation of the Biblical texts it was based on (OT - The Second Rabbinic Bible, Apocrypha The Septuagint of Codex Vaticanus and NT the Textus Receptus of the Greek New testament) with the various other translation diligently compared. The English is antiquated, but not impossible to learn and being that most King James Bible are based on the Oxford edition of 1769, thus updated with modern type face and mostly modern punctuation, one can still read, understand and enjoy the King James Bible with only a 200 word or so expansion of one's vocabulary to fully understand the KJV of the Bible. Further, although I love the King James Bible's flow of language and turn of phrase I am still committed to modern biblical scholarship and rigor, especially as we examine the Dead Sea Scrolls and other ancient Biblical Manuscripts of the Old Testament and the New Testament to help us better understand and "Re-Create" the Old and New Testament texts. As much as I love to read, study and meditate upon the Septuagint (Greek Old Testament Translation) I know that today we have far better and more reliable biblical texts than the Septuagint, Vulgate, and even the Second Great Rabbinic Hebrew Bible for the Old Testament and the Textus Receptus New Testament. With that said, I would still buy, use and enjoy the King James Bible for its beauty and for its blessed devotion to the traditional understanding of certain biblical passages. In that the King James Version is deeply committed to not only translating the Biblical Texts, but translating them in such a way as to reflect the traditional understanding of certain passages pursuant to the mind and understanding of the early Christian Church Fathers. (Reade the preface to the 1611 edition the translators says this very explicitly). Its because of this translating "perspective" that it is still used and honored by many an English-Speaking Christian, even Orthodox Christian. As far as the text itself is concerned I should warn the King James Only people who are devoted to the so-called PCE (Pure Cambridge Edition) version of the King James Bible. This is NOT it! This does not bother me any, but the PCE people need to know just in case they end up buying this version of the King James Bible and they later discover that it does NOT conform to the Pure Cambridge Edition of the King James Bible. Also, their are 5 places in the New Testament that the King James Version of the Bible used the English word "Propitiation" for the Greek word ἱλαστήριον. The Revised Standard Version uses, IMHO, the better word "Expiation." Propitiation means appeasing the wrath of a vengeful god while expiation just means removing one's sin or cleansing one from sin. So the King James Version is not perfect and the bias of its translators comes through, but for the most part these things can be compensated for and people, especially Orthodox People, can still use the King James Bible if they so prefer. So still beautiful, still wonderful to read and hear and still declaring the word of God after 400 years. Not bad, not bad at all. Pick up this little gem and use it. You won't regret it. PS: However, if you want to get the best of the best of English Bibles then follow this link and get this bible ASAP! Here is the link:http://www.amazon.com/dp/019528335X/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=O33YJ2FMBAR5&coliid=I1ZYBLVI28WXEG. Get it while its still here because its getting harder and harder to find these days, and this English Bible, the RSV w/Expanded Apocrypha, is still hands down the best English translation of the Holy Bible and based upon very good and accurate Biblical Texts and Manuscripts. Heck, get both the KJV and the RSV and you are good to go. Take care.

The overall quality of the book was amazing. The only drawback was it didn't include the book of Jasher and Jubilees. Hope this will be one of the most valuable Gem all my life. Great buying..!
