Great to start seeds, sprouting, planting, go crazy!
So I am a huge fan of these. I find them to be multipurpose. I have used them to make vertical sprout gardens, to start sprouts, grow microgreens and prepare plants to be planted. I will use them for my sprouts and micro greens, and then after they're used I will sprinkle them with another layer of seeds and when they grow big enough I will put the entire thing into my garden. I feel like it gives the seedlings a little extra protection, plus I like the idea of them being used multiple times. I mentioned vertical gardening, this can be as simple as my initial test drive of taking a mat and seating it when's the seedlings Take root I took a binder clip and attached it to a surface and propped it vertical so that I could see how well that worked. It was awesome. Next step was the same thing with just a bit more permanent, less Jerry rigged. All in all i'm super happy with the usefulness of this multipurpose mat.Bonus is this is a great renewable resource, in Hawaii we waste so much of this!! It is a huge problem when people go harvest wild coconuts for money (like picking up cans for recycling money) then remove the husk to take the coconuts to sell. Piles of these left everywhere. So i'm all for one more use for the husks! :-)

Good if you don't follow description
These are good mats if you don't listen to the description saying that they are ready to use out of packaging because they aren't. To get the best germination on your seeds these mats need to be presoaked. I also chose to sanitize during the presoak with hydrogen peroxide and held the mats down submerged in the mixture for roughly 2 hrs before use. I tried it without presoaking and with presoaking and presoaking is the way to go.

Satisfied customer
I am a newbie at growing microgreens and I had great success with these mats (see pictures). I just placed another order. I only soaked the mat with filtered water for a few minutes to get it saturated. On the first try, I presoaked the seeds, and on the second try, I placed dry, unsoaked seeds and sprayed them with filtered water. They all sprouted within 3 days and they taste delicious.

Yep, they stink
They have a chemical like odor, and pre-soak overnight didn't help. I did get good broccoli sprouts after about a week, but I can't get over the odor. I've been sprouting in mason jars for years, and unless you need microgreens that stand up straight and all align, I wouldn't bother with this method. I'm donating the pads, and going back to my jars. Clean water, no odor. No waste.

Potting Mix is much better than these pads!
They have a rather strange odor-unpleasant. I tried rinsing it repeatedly before using but the odor doesn't go away. The sprouts grow easy enough, but the lingering odor is there. Maybe I just have a sensitive nose but I won't be using them again. Potting mix is a much more pleasant odor so I'll go back to using that. I also think it is much easier to sprout the seeds on potting mix than these pads. I use the clear domes to initially get seeds sprouted, then remove the domes. These pads dry out so fast, once the seeds have sprouted I was having to mist the seedlings 4-6 times a day. That's more work than potting mix. Wish I hadn't bought 2 packages. I'll give the rest away at my annual plant swap.

Works Great for Microgreens
I wanted to try growing microgreens and decided on these pads for the growing medium. They have worked really, really well. My plants have no problem with them whatsoever. They have no problem growing into the pads and they don't effect the taste at all. I do soak them for 24 hours before use, though. Not sure how well things take to an unsoaked pad.

So easy and clean to use - no dirt !!!
These mats couldn't be easier to use. I did mess up my first batch by putting it out in the sun on a hot, hot day. No worries, I just pulled off the dead sprouts and roots and reused the mat. I didn't realize how strong tasting (bitter even) the sprouts would be, but I'm finding fun ways to ingest them. LOVE THESE GROW PADS !!!
