It is hard to understand why Roberts would supply its Radio R993 without either batteries or worse a mains adaptor.It is extremely important to get hold of the correct adaptor (6 volts DC output at 300mA) Do not make the mistake as I did of thinking any old 6V adaptor will do.Of all the adaptors I tried this one comfortably came out top.Robust built it is well ahead of its cheaper rivals and most importantly works seamlessly with the radio. An extra long cable and the ability to act as a charger if required are a bonus. I have read some negative reviews but from my experience if you are looking for an adaptor for your Roberts R9993 then this is the one to go for

Pity I had to buy the power connector separately. Excellent in all other aspects.

This adaptor is not suitable for the Robert's Radio R9993 ( new Classic 993) it does not fit and causes interference

I was hoping that this would be the answer for my roberts radio. I have been using batteries and it is a very expensive way of listening to the radio. Whilst my roberts radio is fantastic it's a shame this adapter is not. Complete waste of money. As soon as it is plugged in there is a constant siren sound. So annoying and therefore cannot use it. If I was able to go out I would have returned it. What's going on with it I have no idea but I do know it is useless. So back to batteries.

Works perfectly on my 20 year old plus Ross speakers (which I use for listening to Radio Stations on my lap top when abroad in my vacation apartment in Greece and the UK). But when I use on my Roberts Classic 993 I can hear something that sounds like a house burglar alarm going off constantly along with the station which I`m tuned into, otherwise not a bad purchase overall.

Great little radio can't believe the battery life but radio is used every day for at least 8 hours a day for back ground music at work. Bought this mains power adaptor to supplement the need for batteries great adaptor it's just a pity length of cable wasn't a little longer, but am very happy with it the way it is. Thanks

This was bought as a Xmas present to go with a Roberts radio that didn't come with a mains adaptor. There's not a lot you can really say about an item like this, other than it does what it is supposed to and runs the radio.
