Lord Byron - The Major Works (Oxford World's Classics)

Worth the money for Don Juan alone. If you've ever over indulged on alcohol and suffered the next day you'll be glad to know Byron can capture the hangover-regret in seven simple words: 'There is no sterner moralist than pleasure'.

A great poet

This is a fairly comprehensive edition of Byron's poetry, and includes everything you'd expect (Manfred, Don Juan, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, Darkness, She Walks in Beauty, etc.), as well as many of his letters and other prose. It's a rather weighty edition with plentiful explanatory notes, but that's what you should expect for such an edition, making it ideal for undergraduates and Byron enthusiasts alike.

Great value, lots to read. Good book if you haven't read any of Byron's work before.

I cannot put this down and wonder why I have reached the age of 71 without having read it before.

Los Oxford Classics son una exquisitez. Este libro de Lord Byron contiene una estupenda colección, casi de toda su obra. Más que suficiente para una lectura seria y completa de su literatura.

Good value

Essa edição só deve valer a pena no exterior. Com o preço cobrado no Brasil, por conta da importação, definitivamente não vale a pena. Tem bastante página, mas é em formato de bolso e com um papel beeeem ruinzinho. É do tipo de livro que não deve durar nem 5 anos.Pelo tamanho, achei que tivesse mais poemas, mas há bem poucos, na verdade. Apenas os principais MESMO. A maior parte das páginas é ocupada por poemas imensos, como Manfred, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage e, principalmente, Don Juan (só ele tem umas 600 páginas), além de algumas stanzas entre eles. Tem poemas famosos do Lord Byron que ficaram de fora, como The Destruction of Senaqueribe e Lines Inscribed Upon a Cup Formed From a Skull. As cartas no final são interessantes para fins historiográficos, mas seria melhor se fossem substituídas por mais poemas.Enfim, só vale a pena se pegar numa promoção muito boa (comprei com um vale-presente). Definitivamente não compensa pagar quase R$ 100,00, ainda mais porque todos os poemas dele já caíram em domínio público e podem facilmente ser encontrados na internet.

This is a grand book, though somehow I thought it would be his complete poetry works. My mistake.

Extreme book with all of Byron's major works including Child Harold's Pilgrimage, Don Juan , Manfred etc. Must have for the romantic age worshiper...
