Css: The Missing Manual

Excellent book. Everything in detail.
Wanted a book that had all those details you can't find anywhere. This is it.

Excellent. Picked Up So Much.
I'm a quarter of the way through this book and I have picked up SO much. I never tried to learn CSS before I have an online website and I always just did trail and error to get what I wanted and never bothered to learn what was happening and why. (A very frustrating way of doing things) Just after reading this book for a few days I now know what's going on. I'm still no expert and it will take a lot more of putting things into practice but I would recommend this book and as a reference too. I'll be looking to see if the author has Javascript next. I can't recommend it enough. CSS does seem overly complicated and not an exact science but I believe I will limit a lot of frustrations with this book.

Bingo!
I have tried many books this one is the best. I have made more progress in one day then in the last 3 week. It is comprehensive. Adresses questions you come accross when designing a modern looking website. It is written in plain English unlike many other books. The structure is logic and you handpick things you need. The pitfall of each technique is explained and paired with an uptodate solution.

Nice book but...
It's a good and detailed book but I'm struggling to read it because of the large amount of text between each tutorial, it's purely a thing of preference but quote important to me

Usual high standard
I have a high regard for these Missing Manual series and have several. This CSS one maintains the high standard of the series and gives a thorough explanation of CSS with the usual tutorials that one can follow and practice by downloading the files off the Miss website.Thoroughly recommended

My CSS Bible
Coming from a server side background, I've only ever had a passing interest in css, but decided to fill in this blank, and this book is an absolute wealth of information, delivered in a witty and concise way. One of the best dev books I own.

It's a great book for absolute CSS beginners
It's a great book for absolute CSS beginners. I like that it goes deep into details as this is important for people who want to become front-end developing professionals. The author is great at using humour too so it makes a good read.

A good invesment !
I really like this book. it has exercises and is super easy to follow. I didn't become an expert because is not my goal. But I can still have fun and build my own websites offline. It is so cool to see the changes you can make on a site, change the navigation style, and color. OMG, so much fun! I have a pretty good understanding of the structures and how CSS works with HTML5. These are computer languages that even if you advance in your skills, there are some websites still using the early versions before those and this book explains a little about it what works with or what won't work, not in depth. But everything else is relevant. Great book. I was in TX on 02-14 2021 in the storm and to survive the cold with my pets I burn most of my books, something I never thought I need it to do. I'll buy this book again.

Perfect for my needs
Good for someone who has been introduced to CSS and web design already and wants to get to an intermediate/expert level. Not the most up to date but still very happy

Where NOT to Learning about these important topics
I am not a "dummy" with these topics, as I've been coding HTML for years, and nibbling at CSS. But this book is NOT a book for beginners, or for dummies!Without laying out, for example, basic coding, it launches into such esoteric and probably less-needed sub-topics such as Effects, Transforms and Styling Gradients. To me, that's Advanced CSS, and not what I was looking for at all.So, if a reader wants basic rules and coding for inserting Tables, Images etc. into a web site look for another book - don't waste your money on this one! It will be gathering dust on my bookshelf for quite a while.
