A succinct introduction
I never heard of Agile or Scrum before, but after reading this quick and informative overview, it's an approach I've been using intuitively in my own software development. It makes sense. No need for complicated documents and dependency diagrams as in SSADM, yet rigorous enough to get things done and stick to the requirements (even if they tend to change during development as they inevitably do). There's no discussion about the disadvantages and inherent pitfalls, but that's not necessary in this short treatise. I imagine it's something one would have to look into when working with Scrum in practice. Even for a large-scale project, it would probably be useful to break it down into smaller projects and use Scrum as a way to manage the development cycle. What seems to be the most salient feature of Scrum is that developers work in small teams of around 7-9 people, with regular but highly focused planning and status meetings for each iteration of the product life cycle; and this keeps the communication tight and clear between members. And the client gets to see the progress milestones more frequently also, with real working results at each iteration.

A useful quick guide
I didn't give it 5 stars as its a brief guide. But it is well structured and will enable you to quickly get up to speed on key terms. One of the biggest challenges you face is challenging the "of course I understand what Agile is" mostly this is a lie and this is where it all goes wrong. You need a common understanding in your team. If you don't use a book like this, it will all go horribly wrong and quickly! A good book and highly recommended for the high level.

Very very good introduction to understanding scrum methodology
The book gives a very brief introduction to scrum. Although very short, it captures the core message of scrum methodology. It clearly describes the structure, function, and expectations of the team and the way of working. I wish the authors include one fo example to give the book some practical visualisation. Overall, it was an amazing quick read. I am going to buy The Elements of Scrum.

Short, but well written and presented
For the price, I was expecting something with a little more detail. Of course, I should have read the description and reviews a bit more closely, and then I'd have realised how short the book is.However, for an introduction to the topic, it is extremely well written and presented.

Useful brief introduction to Scrum
As dev lead for a small company experimenting with Scrum, I found this book to be a very useful 'way-in' for colleagues that weren't able to commit time to studying Scrum in more detail. We distributed copies to the dev and management teams, and everyone found the necessary hour or two to read through it. Having done so, we all now have good general knowledge of what Scrum is about, which has helped to set the ball rolling for discussion and implementation. It doesn't answer a lot of the questions that are likely to be asked of course, so if you're a Scrum-Master-to-be you'll want to make sure that you've done a bit more reading around!

Fabulous book
I bought this book just to get a quick understanding of SCRUM to be able to bluff my way through a meeting before I could find more time for more in-depth study. It is a short book and for that totally great. So many business books out there go on and on. This book is short, snappy and tells you what you need to know. I don't understand those who complain about the level of content. You can look inside the book on Amazon and also check pagination. Great book.

Brief, but to the point!
An excellent aide-memoire on SCRUM, which I found both concise and to the point. Well worth the pennies. It is only rated at four stars because I was left wanting slightly more clarity in a couple of minor areas, but otherwise excellent. I've read the book three times already so as to internalise the detail. There is no flab and almost every word is important. It matches my understanding of SCRUM from a fringe involvement in a past project and enabled me to understand how to contribute constructively and get the most from my participation.

It really was agile
Very short and precise.Found myself highlighting a lot of stuff, but that's the point, it's so short and concise that you won't need to highlight anything. It's a pretty short but very 'to-the-point" —besides comfortable— reference book.

Concise and to the point!
I just read this book in less than 3 hours but I feel I understand the key ideas behind scrum. I recommend it without hesitation to those having heard about scrum and interested in the basics of the method. Caution: if you're looking for practical examples of how it is used and how teams benefit from it, this book is not the right address.

Short and Effective
This book is definitely as brief as it claims to be and perfectly effective at conveying the ideas it intends to. Would definitely recommend it as a companion to the official Scrum Guide.
