The pens arrived right on time as promised. Both were in great shape with no damage at all. I have a special liking (or almost a fetish) for metal pens. Considering the price these looked great in their modern yet understated design. As a bonus, they write as good as they look. I normally write on all types of pads, printer paper and index cards. No problem with any of those. The flow is smooth and even with no ink excess to smear. Just a nice thin and even line of ink.I really appreciate the firm attachment of the cap. It takes a little tug to get it off. When the cap is retained on the top end of the pen there is a nice positive "click" and the cap stays on with no play and no tendency to loosen or fall off. You have to enjoy a smooth barrel pen to like writing with these. There is no grip or grooves for your fingers to grab onto. The pen is somewhat slick but not as slick as a conventional Cross pen and the barrel is thicker than the standard Cross.All said, these pens are a great buy and really nice to write with.

I've been spending my children's inheritance on a whole slew of fountain pens, ball point pens, roller ball pens and gel pens while learning Spencerian Handwriting and while I've found the Retro 1951 pens the most attractive, this pen has turned out to be my favorite. The ink is very black (much blacker than any ballpoint) and the fine point (.5mm) is very fine for a gel, (though not as fine as the finest ballpoints) just what I need to get every subtle pen movement just right. The slim pencil shape is like the pencils I grew up with so it is very familiar, and allows my wrist to move more freely than the padded pens that are so popular these days. The tip has a spring in it that retracts when I put too much pressure on it and lets me know to lighten my grip which makes my writing more fluid allows me to write longer without tiring.

Nice pen to write with. I thought it was a click pen though, not a fan of capped pens. Also if your hands get sweaty the metal barrel can get slippery.

You know I like these pens but they are slippery. I find my hand sliding down.
