Owned for 1 year! Great Knives at a good price!
Well balanced, very sharp, delicate blade and nice handle. Well balanced to! These seem to be real VG-10 which I was Leary about at first. The handles are NICE wood and the knives are gorgeous! The full-tang blade is just wonderful. The metal dimpling at the top allows for better cutting. These knives really cut well and are a gem to own so far!cons: I left them in water a few times so had to scrub them well but the surface rust came right off (my fault and they seem fine now). Take care of them and they will treat you well. We put ours back in the box after use now.UPDATE: I have OWNED for OVER 1 YEAR! I just Purchased a Second Set as a gift!

an excellent beginner knife
two years ago i purchased this knife pair for $100 and i couldnt recommend it enough for anyone else starting off. whether you're a beginner looking to stay within a budget, or you're a pro looking for something sturdy and cheap, this chef knife is definitely it. I started making sushi about two years ago and needed an inexpensive yet respectable knife. this knife does not feel cheap at all. it has a comfortable weight and is properly balanced. its length is perfect for new chefs who dont have the accuracy and consistency to use a large blade, or yanigaba, yet still carries a great versatile shape for a variety of uses. my only complaint out of the box was that the blade seemed rather thick, compared to my colleagues' but i soon forgot about that.I didnt want to ruin an expensive knife with my inexperience in sharpening, so i went with this thinking, if i could get this cheap Amazon knife to work for me, i could make magic with some real steel eventually. two years of weekly (and sometimes daily) sharpening, and seemingly endless 10 hour days of cutting through all sorts of veggies, fish and bones, this knife has proven to be a real underdog in the kitchen. i would buy this again over and over if i had to, though im currently on the hunt for something more premiumi included a picture of where the knife is now, compared to its cutout in the box and as you can see, ive shaved off a LOT of metal. i know a major part of that is due to incorrect knife sharpening, oversharpening, and the sheer amount of use the knife has seen, though im not entirely sure what it says about the metal itself. she's lost a bit of her luster as i dont really care to polish the knife often and the handle had started to lose its shine somewhere in the first 6 months. The paring knife that came in this set is also a trooper that doesnt get the recognition it deserves. i thought i had lost it one day, until a few months later when i found out my boss had been using it the whole time. everyone asks to borrow my paring knife. ive only sharpened it once on a machine. definitely holds up.

they have excellent balance, fit
These knives are NOT pro level chef’s knives, however, they ARE very high quality, they have excellent balance, fit, and finish. They could hold an edge a little better, but sharpen easily if you know what you are doing. A good stropping goes a long way on them as well. They will shave out of the box and can be made stupid scary sharp with just a little work. They cut very easily, food doesn’t stick as you cut through, and they clean easily.

Excellent knife set
I don't use the big knife everyday, even though it's designed as an all purpose chef knife. The little one sees a lot of use cutting vegetables (yes, it passed the Tomato Test right out of the box), trimming steaks & cleaning up poultry and has retained a brilliant luster even after a year of use. I try to keep these two sharp on a whetstone. The handles are made of a very interesting dark wood that looks best with thorough hand washing. The wood seems to have been sealed very well so I'm hoping to never have to re-varnish them.

They are definitely beautiful but feel heavy in the hand
They are definitely beautiful but feel heavy in the hand. The wide angle of the blade is thicker than my Whustoff Classics. Also onions and finely chopped jalapenos do stick to the blade. I prefer my Whustoff salmon slicer when slicing onions. The thick blade also tears apart apples and cutting up broccoli stalks did not feel as good as my Whustoff knives. I have not used a knife that feels better in the hand and cuts with precision and ease as my Wusthof Classic Ikon Hollow Edge Wunder Knife-8".

Very sharp out of box, quality packaging.
This set of knives looks and performs so far very well. The packaging was elegant and practical and the knives very sharp. If they also hold up for a long time, as they seem they would by what seems to be very high quality construction, this should be a purchase for a lifetime. I think these a great for upgrading some of your kitchen knives with two essentials in any kitchen. Also, these will make a great gift!

A Definite Kutt Above!
I own a number of Dalstrong Shogun Series Knives as well as several Japanese-made Yaxell Knives; I have a Kutt Chef knife I bought over two-year ago which I use regularly. I am familiar with high-quality cuttlery. That all being said I feel qualified to give my impression of the Kutt hammered-Chef knife and Paring knife set: they are awesome! Very sharp, very well made... And worth every penny! Color me IMPRESSED!

Great knife excellent value
I'm a professional chef and am building a set of Japanese steel knives. This is a fantastic addition to my set and much cheaper than its competitors. The feel, grip and razor sharp edge of this knife make it easy to get a nice rocking motion to fly through any food preparation job

Beautiful and ultra sharp a pleasure to own.
Corr blimy sharp, pings the hairs off the back of your arms with no effort at all. Looks great, but the Damascus pattern is a little light. But really pleased to have such a quality item in our lives.

Not recommended
At beginning the knife was really sharp, after weeks of it using it it was really hard to sharp it on a wet stone so it wasn't fully sharped and
