Great little burner for the price
I took this on a 4 day canoeing/camping trip with a buddy. Since the butane canisters this burner uses as fuel are long and thin (think hairspray bottle) rather than short and fat, I think they pack pretty easily in the side pouches of my pack. In the 4 days we were on the trip, we used this burner for breakfast (oatmeal, coffee, etc.) and dinner (steak the first night, boxed meals on other nights). This burner did an excellent job with everything. Taking water from lake temperatures to boiling was quick, and the flame was easy to control. Plus, one bottle lasted the entire trip with a little left over. Some have complained about how the adjustment knob gets hot, but we didn't have a problem even using a fairly large aluminum pan. One complaint that I can verify, however, is that wind does affect the burner. We just set up a makeshift wind screen and everything was fine. Going forward, I think I'll throw a screen made out of thick aluminum foil in the bag to use as a wind screen. For the price, I think this little burner is great. Some additional info:- I got fuel at my local Asian grocery store. I think 4 bottles was $9?- The burner itself is well-made, sturdy, and is not liable to tip over, but sometimes it needs to be leveled if you're doing rustic camping. We used sticks and rocks under one leg or the fuel canister when needed.- It packs down very small. I put it in my pack with my sleeping bag, and it squished in easily.
