Value for money and excellent quality
The NooElec NESDR SMArTee XTR SDR is a great bit of kit to use and is really good value for you money. Compared to a radio scanner you cannot have a better way of receiving radio signals for a cheaper price. The only drawback is portability. IE laptop, raspberry pi. There are some RTL SDR apps for android that will work with this hardware.Learn to use and setup your software correctly otherwise you may think you have a faulty device with no audio. Search Youtube for NooElec products and how to set up and use with RTL SDR software. Happy listening !

Mechanically unstable
I bought this model due to it’s metal enclosure (they tend to get quite hot) and the ability to at some point experiment with an LNA for long runs to the aerial, and it basically works fine. However, it disconnects/reconnects at even the slightest touch of the cables. The company mentions this on their site, so it’s probably not me getting a defective unit, so be prepared to find a way of pinning the cables down well (plural, I use a short usb extender to get it away from the computer and to allow pinning it down).

Crashes Airspy SDR#, No EXT DLL in HDSDR
I have 2x Nooelec RTL-SDR which work fine in my Windows 10 and still do. That is in Airspy with and without HamItUp converter, HDSDR and Spektrum. They also work fine with Dump1090 and Heatmap. But this new Nooelec Smartee crashes everything. First I reinstall all drivers with Zadig, wow it gets incorrectly recognised as a RTL-SDR (It is but with a different tuner) Still SDR#/Airspy will no longer start. HDSDR won't read it because it is the wrong EXTDLL and it also screwed all other settings up when I returned the RTL-SDR as a test.I only bought this because it is supposed to have a higher top end range. It crashed GQRX on Mac and Raspberry Pi where the RTL-SDR still works. This is a faulty device and is going back. Very dissapointed

Works fine but incompatible with certain aerial types
It will not work when connected to an antenna which effectively exhibits a DC short circuit, e.g. the majority of TV aerials (folded dipole) and Yagi arrays in general. This is mentioned in the lower level documentation, but it would have been useful to have a warning on the case itself, and in the headline description of the item. Also I would suggest that Nooelec provide compatibility table for their modules and common antenna configurations. The 3 stars is for inadequate documentation rather than device performance when correctly installed.
