Great read!
I had been waiting to read Dangerous Lies for ages, but had to wait until I caught it on sale for Kindle and when I did, jumped straight into reading! Having been a fan of Becca's since the Hush Hush series, I was really excited to read something new and original from her.Stella is a new resident of Thunder Basin, having moved in with retired police officer Carmina - much to the surprise of everyone in the locality. Questions are asked, eyebrows are raised but Stella sticks firm to her story. She has to after all, given that she's in a witness protection program and has been sent here for her own safety. Change is not the word for what she is experiencing - from having a curfew now, to also having a job, and trying to follow the rules put in place by Carmina. Stella's not used to answering to someone, or to anyone!I enjoyed reading this very much. The chemistry between Chet & Stella grows with anticipation but Stella's a tough cookie, and I liked that about her - that she didn't change herself, her morals, her values, and her dreams for the boy next door. We didn't see a drastic character transformation due to chemistry but we DO see it after hard work, adjustments, laughter, loss, tears and temper.I don't want to give too much away about the book, but can only say I would definitely recommend to fans of the YA genre.

Great Book
I'm halfway through this book and can't put it down, which always seems to be the case with Becca Fitzpatrick. I've read all of her novels and they all catch me and keep me hooked in a different way. She is one of the few authors who can make me read a book in a few days. Recommend!

Fantastic
I bought this book because I loved Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush Hush series and Black Ice. Needless to say I enjoyed this book just as much as her others. It leaves you wondering the whole way through what really happened that night, and when the truth finally comes out at the end, I have to admit I hadn't guessed! A brilliant read, keeps you on your toes throughout! If you love Becca Fitzpatrick's other books, I would wholeheartedly recommend reading Dangerous Lies!

It's a great book!
I really enjoyed this book I've read it 5 times now, but I only gave it four stars because just wished it had a epilogue to tie up those lose ends between the main characters and other characters in the book it left me feeling a little frustrated and wanting to know more.

Você não encontrará plot twists engenhosos nesse livro, mas a leitura leve e interessante faz desse romance adolescente uma deliciosa trama que devorei em poucos dias.

More romance than thriller
3.5 STARSStella moves from Philadelphia to Nebraska after witnessing a murder and ending up in the WITSEC. Being in the witness protection program means no one from her old life can know she’s still alive. She’s now living with an overprotective guardian Carmina, counting the days until she turns eighteen in August, if she lasts that long.Stella was a hard character to like because of how poorly she treated most everyone. She often acted like a surly thirteen year old than almost an adult. Though fairly predictable, I enjoyed DANGEROUS LIES and eventually warmed up to Stella and Carmina.DANGEROUS LIES was mostly romance, with a few thriller scenes near the end of the book. Becca Fitzpatrick’s writing kept me interested, but not excited enough to stay up late or rush back to the book. THE DISAPPEARANCE OF SLOAN STEVENS by Gia Cribbs is a better book about the witness protection program.

A Decent Thriller, but hoped for more THRILLS!
I adored Becca Fitzpatrick's foray into the thriller world with Black Ice last year and was all sorts of excited for Dangerous Lies! Though I wouldn't say it was as thrilling as her first one, it was still a pretty decent read with a few heart-pounding moments!Estella has witnessed a crime, a brutal murder involving a dangerous criminal and now she has to testify for his persecution. In the meantime, she's being sent into WITSEC and already her life is falling apart. Leaving her home, everyone she knows, including her boyfriend doesn't make her happy. She has three weeks until she's eighteen, then she plans to leave Thunder Basin, Nebraska and go live with her boyfriend, Reed, who's also in WITSEC and live the life she wants to live.Stella, as she's called in her new life, wasn't the easiest character to like. I can understand her being scared and even a little angry about her situation. She comes from a rough life with a mother who is addicted to drugs and what basically led to the whole ordeal with a guy being murdered in their home. But the way she behaved for a good half of the novel was deplorable. Carmina is a retired cop who takes Stella in as her "caretaker" during her WITSEC stay, but Stella was anything but polite or kind. She resents everything Carmina makes her do. Such as waking early for breakfast to finding a job in town. She's an ungrateful brat and I couldn't really stand her.Add to that, she bemoans missing her boyfriend constantly, and yet, that doesn't stop herself from flirting with a nearby neighbor boy, Chet. She goes along with the harmless flirting, even knowing she will never let it go too far. And all the while, she waits to receive an email from Reed, her boyfriend, from their secret account. I just didn't like that she kept telling herself Reed's her boyfriend, I love him, I'm going to run away with him once I'm eighteen, yadda yadda yadda...and then she still flirts constantly with Chet. It was deceptive and just wrong.Though it's somewhere in the midst of all that, when Stella very slowly, begins to change and grow for the better. I definitely liked seeing this progression because I couldn't stand to truly hate our main character for the entire book. And besides, Chet was wayyyy better than Reed even though we barely knew Reed!Stella even makes some friends in town that endears her to me more because, she finally starts to be nice. But she also makes an enemy, Trigger. And there's a sense of familiarity between them despite them having never known one another. Trigger continues to be an antagonist for the rest of the novel. He was downright scary in a sense because he was the town's favorite boy destined to be a great baseball star, so he can get away with pretty much anything. Plus, his parents were rich and knew all the important people. So he was the worst sort of character to hate. I hated him soooo much...which just means Becca definitely did her job in the character development!Dangerous Lies was definitely an interesting read filled with lots of secrets, and yes, lies. But there was an awful lot of slow moments lacking any tension. In her previous thriller, I felt like every moment was scary! We didn't know who to trust or who was an outright killer. There was just so much danger that we never knew if that heroine would make it. Here, we don't get that. There's sooo much downtime while Stella just goes about adjust to a new life. There was an occasional spark of danger here and there that mostly involved Trigger. Or there were moments she talked with the detectives and such handling her case and you could feel that underlying tension that there's more to her story than what she initially told. We get hints of that as those conversations take place, but we don't really learn anything until the end. That being said, I can say that the ending was awesome! It had the kind of heart-wracking danger I had been looking for! That tension and fear from dangerous situations. Sad that I had to wait until the very end to get there, but I can see why we had to sift through a whole story of not much happening otherwise. To have the climax spread thin throughout the book wouldn't have worked. I just wished there were more smaller moments of danger and exciting things other than the mundane sort of life events Stella went through.Overall, Dangerous Lies was a pretty good read! Not great, but not at all terrible! There's a nice romance going on through the pages too that involved Chet, naturally. Though Stella still tries to hold onto her relationship with Reed. Though I didn't care for how all that was resolved either. It was just, oh this is how I decide. Done and done. I had my own theory building up of course, but really there was no resolution or anything other than this is how it's going to be. I just wish we could've gotten something more finite than the answer we were given. We pretty much only seen Reed for the one moment in the first chapter and that was it.So despite a few hangups, Dangerous Lies was good. I don't regret reading it! Though it's tough calling this one a thriller, in my opinion, because the only truly thrilling thing happened in one of the last chapters. The rest just felt pretty contemporary like. If you like your contemporaries with a bit of mystery and a thrilling event, then I highly recommend this one! For the thriller fans, I'd still recommend it, just be aware that there's only a few thrilling moments to be had.Dangerous Lies is a standalone that I think many readers can enjoy if they like contemporaries with a bit of danger going about! There's a nice steady building romance and plenty of conflict to be had! A read to fit many readers in a sense!Overall Rating 3/5 stars

Fantastic New Novel from Becca Fitzpatrick
Actual rating: 4.5 starsThis is yet another exciting novel from Becca Fitzpatrick! I have loved Ms. Fitzpatrick ever since I first read Hush, Hush, and my love hasn't stopped. She has written several good novels since the conclusion of that series, this novel included. This novel follows Stella, who is forced to go into Witness Protection after being a witness to a murder. With a strong cast of characters, this novel is perfect for anyone who likes YA mystery/thriller. It has just enough to keep you interested in the story, while appeasing contemporary romance fans as well. The entire premise of this story with Witness Protection was a unique element that I really hadn't read previously, and it made the story even more exciting. There were some twists and turns throughout the story that I didn't see coming, and the conclusion literally had me on the edge of my seat! Everything comes down to a heart-pounding end and for a moment I was in shock because of the events!!Where this book truly shined for me was the characters. Each character was unique and had their own secrets. It was almost like this book was a mystery within a mystery. First, there was the general thriller/mystery of what exactly happened the night that Violet was in Witness Protection for, but then there was also the mystery of each character's past. The added an interesting and exciting element to the story, and keeps readers intrigued throughout the story. Carmina, the retired cop that takes in Stella, was strict and tough, but caring. There were some truly touching and heartfelt scenes between her and Stella, and I loved their relationship. It felt so real, and it was exactly what Stella needed in her life. Carmina quickly became a constant in Stella's life, which is something that Stella desperately needed as her own mother wasn't exactly winning any Mom-of-the-Year awards. Chet was another interesting character. I knew there was more to him than when we were first introduced to him, and I loved the evolving friendship him and Stella had. They had a good balance together, and he helped her grow in ways no one else could.I highly recommend checking this novel out if you are a fan of Becca Fitzpatrick! She delivers yet another thrilling, fantastic story that takes readers into the dangerous world of Witness Protection. Don't miss out on this one!Happy reading :)

What a crazy wonderful rollercoaster ride of a story
Becca Fitzpatrick can do no wrong when it comes to writing and telling a great story. I never know what I will expect when I crack open one of her books, even when she gives us sneak peaks and little blurbs from the book. I could not put down dangerous lies. There is so much character development from the main characters. Let's start with Estella who becomes Stella after entering the WITSEC program. She was a lost, broken girl with many trust issues who grows so much throughout this book. Carmina who is a hard edge ex cop who has a major chip on her shoulder comes a long way as well throughout the book. Then there is Chet who is the brooding handsome boy who looking for peace and hope within himself and others. I loved the relationship between Carmina and Stella. They definitely overcome their Barriers to build and good relationship. Then there Stella's and Chet's relationship. I loved all the bantering and love/hate relationship it starts out as then it builds into friendship then more.... Stella comes to realize that the people in this sleepy town whether they be a friend or foe like Trigger, she comes to realize people really care about her, and wants her to find a place in her crazy world. This book is about Forgiveness, friendship, love, understanding, kindness and finding what family is in different circumstances. Highly recommend this book.

The cover is what hooked me.
Dangerous lies was a really good read! I was hooked from the very beginning. I thought it was very fast paced and I never wanted to put it down.I will say, I was expecting it to be more thriller. There were very few thrills, and was not very exciting. I was waiting for somebody to find her, Nope. NOTHINGShe does have a little of trouble with a neighborhood kid, but honestly (it was nothing)I was thinking this was a definite thriller, but honestly it's just a High School lover story. (Don't get me wrong, I love a good romance) but I think the cover isn't true to the story and gave me false hopes.Stella is a bit hard to like at first, with her disrespectfulness and just plain out rude. She did grow on me though, when I learned of her character and in the end she was very likable.I loved the characters, Especially her fake foster mother. She was sassy, and I loved seeing Stella and her become friends.Chet was a character I loved from the start, and noting changed that would make me dislike him.Theo, Inny etc. we're fun characters.Overall I would rate this 4/5 and definitely would read again, because I loved the story. It wasn't as much thrill seeking as I had hoped (but the romance made up for it)

Very good book.
I really like this book. I love Becca Fitzpatrick; so I'll read anything and everything she writes. This is my third favorite book though, I have to admit. My order is: "Hush Hush" saga, "Black Ice", then this book. It's a really good book, I just would have rathered Fitzpatrick concentrated fully on the main characters present/ future than going into the past. Even with that, it's a great read. Definitely one I'll reread and reread.

What a great story
I have read all of Becca's books, but the story on this one felt so real, for a change Chet is nice, noble, goodhearted and Stella is such a brave person for her age.I also love Becca's way of placing you in the middle of the story, she is so descriptive, she tells you about the place, the weather, the birds and even the smell you should be experiencing.I also liked that things evolved very naturally, situations, feelings and way of thinking, although she always had her feet on the ground Stella matured along the story.

But I was disappointed in the edgy nature of this story
Becca Fitzpatrick can write, no doubt about it. She has skills. But I was disappointed in the edgy nature of this story, which makes it a book I cannot recommend to my own daughters. I was also disappointed in the focus on sensuality more than romance. The reasoning behind her heroine's decision to have sex felt irresponsible and is definitely not the kind of thinking I would want other teenagers to adopt as their own. For that reason, I gave this story, although well-written, only three stars.
