Absolute Batman: Hush

The perfect comic to buy in a DC Absolute edition!
First! If you're considering if you should buy the trade paperback or this oversized absolute edition - Buy the absolute edition if you have the money, or wait until you have the money for it. The art is so beautiful and detailed, which only gets better with the oversized pages. I found myself stuck on many of the pages longer than regularly, just starring at the art.SPOILER ALERT FROM THIS POINT!I think the story is very well done too. There's some really interesting twists and turns, even though i kinda had a hunch that Tommy Elliot was Hush early on. Mostly because i didn't understand why else they would keep him so involved in the story after Bruce's surgery. I really didn't think they would involve him that much just to kill him (This is not Game of Thrones you know!). So even though i had a hunch about it from the start, there were still plenty of mystery going on. First with Harvey Dent (now with a face fixed by surgery - again some Tommy magic) visiting The Joker in Hush's disguise, then the "Muddy" return of Jason Todd a.k.a. 2nd Robin, and in end, you never actually saw Tommy Elliot under the bandages - though it most likely still was him.Very, very, very, very great book!-Buy it! :-)

One of the best graphc novels I have ever read
Simply amazing!!!Hush is iconic amongst Batman fans. Rightly so, it has everything, a great story by writer Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee's stunning art (which is just made even better by the over-sized edition) and to top off the inclusion of all the major characters (allies and enemies) from Gotham city, all of whom have a potent role to play be it large or small, even Superman makes an appearance. Without spilling the beans too much the story focuses on the past childhood and present day friendship between Bruce Wayne and Thomas Elliot. After recovering a from near death injury, things start to get heated when Gotham's villains advance on Batman one by one. However someone else is pulling the strings behind this operation. Furthermore HUSH also explores the developing relationship between Batman and Catwoman (Selina Kyle), something which I believe was superbly carried out throughout the story. The absolute edition also comes with various panel/cover/issue commentaries from Loeb and Lee which give you an insight to how big a project HUSH actually was, along with sketches and alternate covers.

Hush is my favourite Batman story so when I saw it was available In Absolute Edition I had to get it and I’m very happy I did. The book is spectacular, delivery was quick and the packaging was excellent. With it being an Absolute Edition the art work is even more gorgeous than It Is in the regular editions. Batman Hush is a must have for every Batman fan around the world

It's Batman, It's an ABSOLUTE, so what are you waiting for ?!
So first of all if you are a Batman fan you have to pick up any Absolute editions in his name ! Absolutes are of course THE premiere luxury edition of the title in question. The size of the book and pages are beyond omnibuses, the page thickness and quality are substantial and you can really see where your money has gone on these things. The slipcase gives it another really nice touch and makes it look superior on your bookshelf :) The art really explodes on the page in this larger format, really nice.As for the story-line, pretty good, excellent twist near the end (just when you think you have it figured out), dialogue is pretty good and of course the art is...well, it's the legendary Jim Lee. The romance dynamics were interesting, its nice to see Batman the human being rather than just a 2 dimensional character - don't worry though, plenty of action. You can see how this may have influenced Nolan's storyline a little bit for The Dark Knight Rises. Why have i given it 4 stars then ? It feels like a modern classic, but i'm not sure its an ALL TIME classic. Is it as good as Long Halloween, Dark Knight, Dark Victory ? Some will say yes, i'm not sure, perhaps i need to give it breathing space and read it again in 6 months, but for now 4 stars.Should you buy it ? If you don't know much about Batman but buying it for a fan's birthday/Christmas present (er check they don't already have it!) then they will love you to bits, its got a really prestigious and robust feel, £50-60 well spent i'd say. And if you're a fan with a cheaper paperback version thinking if its worth upgrading i would say, if your wallet can handle it, do it now !
