Q: The blade on the knife I received is impossible to deploy with one hand, even after oiling it. How can I loosen it so the flipper works?

Mine got easier to flip open the more I did it. Opened it by pulling the flipper with index finger and at the same time flicked my wrist in the same direction/motion of the blade, along with gravity's help. Recently, I got it wet in sea water which made it hard to open with one hand, but rinsing it with clean water reverted it back to the way it was.

Q: can you open this evo tanto with your index finger....ie: stud on top of blade to open it?

Yeah with a little flick of the wrist. As far as the thumb stud on the side goes don't bother trying to open it with that.
