Intriguing and Suspenseful!
Get immersed into the stirring and captivating fictitious world of Bishop's Island with Pursuit, by Jason Garrett.Bishop's Island is a place that could easily be a serene and cozy vacation spot to snuggle in, a small historically rich settlement for the culturally inclined, or just an attractive location with ocean scenery and interesting native architecture and artifacts to enjoy. But evil lurks everywhere, and an unfortunate past filled with men of nefarious character still haunts the old borough. From the first page, the reader is gripped with suspense as our lead character is stalked, intruded upon, and chased. But she's expecting this, and we're wondering why. We're then caught up in a plot that thickens with each chapter as we come to find out who she is, who her husband is, who the villains are, and the lengths to which people are willing to go for love, lust, and greed. Bishop's Island's rich history and the people who established it all play a significant role in the story's intricate plot and reason for the actions of our characters.Pursuit is a novel that tackles some age old plots but with some interesting new twists. We have our heroin and her self-made and successful, albeit estranged husband. We have a band of diverse criminals who are willing to do anything to achieve their end goal. We have a mystery to unravel and a maze of clues and dead ends. As we near the heart-thudding conclusion, the suspense is almost unbearable. But Pursuit is not just a story about greed and love and the levels to which it takes people. It is also a deep dive into some philosophical questions about life. Characters in the book find themselves asking what their real motives are and what drives them. The reader may find him or herself asking some of the same questions about why our Creator allows some of the things in our lives to happen. Our main character, against all odds and at times without hope, clings relentlessly to her faith. In the midst of the pain, the quest, and the loss, her husband comes to find out why he had become the person he did.I haven't read a lot of spiritually-based fiction, but Pursuit by Jason Garrett has inspired me to, well, pursue more. Check it out today and take the exciting journey.Kelly Libatique, author of "Divine Knowledge Transfer"

The Age Old Tale of Good vs. Evil With a Romantic Twist
I truly enjoyed reading the novel, Pursuit , by Jason Garrett. I have read Garrett's other books about Bishop Island, and while you do not need to read the other books to understand and enjoy this one, I always like books with familiar settings.Pursuit's themes of Good vs. Evil and Fight for What/Who You Love draw you into the story, making it hard to put down! The characters are believable, and Garrett's writing puts you in their mind. You feel what the characters feel while you are reading it. I personally enjoyed the ending, which brings back a a familiar character from the other books about Bishop Island. This book was a satisfying and enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to future books from this promising author!

A bit slow to get going.
So the premise of the story is that beautiful athlete gets abducted and husband who is in the security business goes after her.But wait, they got divorced or at least separated. We don't really know why, since they both love each other beyond doubt. The story is a bit wordy to get started. Sounded like PBS wrote it, then about midway, it gets going. Not a bad mystery. One day read.

Bishop's Island Review
This is a mystery about how the Island was settled and the people who settled it. It involves the hunt for "supposed" gold that was hidden somewhere on the island and the kidnapping of the woman who the bad guys assume would have knowledge of where it was and her husband who is trying to find her.A well written mystery.

Sore Thumb Out
I guess I will stand out like a sore thumb among the plethora of high praise given to this book. It was just OK for me. Pushed myself to finish it. I thought it was drawn out and kind of boring. I liked the rich language, but that's about it. Sorry to spoil the perfect score.

Could have been good
The lack of a good plot is very obvious in this book. Unfortunately the only mystery is why the author didn't develop the plots that were suggested several times. A hidden fortune of gold, historical feuds, et cetera are brushed over lightly in favor of preaching religious dogma at least once per paragraph. If your only reading interest is religion, I would suggest the Bible and leave this one alone.

This book was a major disappointment
This book was a disappointment. Why? 1 - not a believable story line 2 - became a very preachy "religious" book about 3/4 of the way which of adding to the story line actually took away from the story itself. Even if it would have been listed as a "Christian Mystery/Adventure" themed book it would have completely missed the mark.I'm an avid reader that reads on average 4-5 books a week and I love a good read - unfortunately this wasn't.

Good
I am frequently impressed by the quality of writing in a book from an unknown author (or an author without a large publishing company behind them).
