"KastKing Line Gobbler Line Stripper" worked well, did what it claimed
The media could not be loaded. I purchased the "KastKing Line Gobbler Line Stripper" from Amazon at its then current price plus shipping. I really didn't think it would be worth what I spent, but I was wrong.(Please see the accompanying photos.)I had several reels that needed replacement line, so I figured it would be a good test. I used the line gobbler on an open faced Zebco spinning reel, a closed faced spinning reel, my longtime favorite Daiwa Minicast and a fly fishing reel. The lines were monofilament, braided, and floating fly. They varied from the floating fly line to the "fishing for dinner" heavier lines, and the very light test "fishing for fun" minicast monofilament. The tool came in a “cutting tool required” blister pack as do most things today. It is rigid plastic, and appears to be of sturdy construction. The spindle is 3/16" hexagonal non-ferrous material (aluminum?) and appears to be secure and more than adequate to do the job. Clearly visible alignment arrows, visible from the bottom and on the outside of cone make removal and attachment of the base simple. The Amazon site says: "Push the button on the retention plate and rotate to remove the plate", however there is no button and all it takes is a simple twist to disengage the base from the cone. This latch may be the weakest point of the construction, however I don't see it being a problem if not abused. The instructions were clear and concise, however they were in very small print making them difficult to read with my old eyes. They seemed to cover all contingencies including the very fine line as on the minicast, and setting the drill's clutch to a light setting for the "end-of-line" abrupt stop.I used my Ryobi 18 Volt battery powered drill as a power source. I also tried an electric drill, but only to spin the tool, and I could see it was way too much power, way too fast, and it continued to spin after releasing the trigger - all too dangerous from a safety aspect to use for stripping line - I strongly recommend to ONLY use a battery powered variable speed, immediate stop, portable drill!!!I attached the reels to the first section of a rod as a means of support and threaded the line through the first eye so it would have a straight pull to the reel. I found it easiest if the rod/reel was secured, I used a woodworker's vise. The "KastKing Line Gobbler Line Stripper" worked well for all the reels and all the line types that I tried. KastKing clearly states "discard or recycle the line". While they don't specifically say that it cannot be reused, once it is removed from the cone it is essentially unusable - in one test the monofilament popped into a ball of coiled line. That being said, I used 1/4 inch drive 3 millimeter deep socket and an extension as a support for the cone and was able to easily rewind newly removed line back onto a reel - may not consistently work but it did in that test. Be aware of line twist when re-spooling.I tried to make the KastKing Line Gobbler fail - by severely angling the drill and the cone to the line, using high speed, low speed, variable speed, and abruptly starting and stopping during the winding process. It took a great effort and contortions to “make” the line jump the spool or wrap around the drill chuck. On one occasion of starting and stopping the process the line “hung" in the reel (mimicking an end-of-line). Even with the drill at the lowest torque setting it pulled the rod free of the vise which was "holding", not "clamping" the rod - just something to be aware of as a loose reel could become a flying object.Understand that this is not a tool for your tackle box. It is large in comparison to many fishing supplies, and requires a power drill. I cannot see this being used on a stream bank you hiked into.Overall, I give the "KastKing Line Gobbler Line Stripper" a well-deserved thumbs up. It appears sturdy, is easy to use, and does what it claims to do. It strips the line (for discard) easily, quickly, and efficiently, making replacement a much faster and easier task.I would recommend this tool for fisherpersons who replace lines frequently or have numerous reels/lines to deal with. I would consider pairing this with the "KastKing Line Spooler"…I think that may be an awesome setup. This would make a nice gift for the fisherperson in your family - Something they may not buy for themselves.

Works very quickly
Have used this a couple of times now and it easily beats the little battery powered line stripper that I used previously.

Simple and Works
I have been using my drill for years to strip old line. I normally use a screwdriver or something similar and just wrap the line around the handle. This is SO much easier than cutting the line off at the end. A quick turn of the plate and the line just slides off neatly. My only minor complaint is that the line retention slots don't work with my 8lb fluorocarbon. After looping through both sets of slots I was able to get it to hold it just barely and get the wraps started. You could also simply put a piece of clear tape on the end of the line and accomplish the same thing. Overall, a great value and time saver.

Fishing line de-spooler
Ok, bought this on a whim and am I glad I did. Easy to use, easy to get the line off. Just have to have either 1 hand on the line coming off, or get help from someone. If you don't use help or your other hand, you will have line everywhere so be careful. Other than that, good product.

Love it ... went from 5 - 10 minutes emptying the spool, to 1 minute.
I am really glad I purchased this.
