The punches and dies are made from o1 tool steel that i then Hardened!! So these are top quality punches guaranteed to last!! The punches are hollow ground which allows for easier punching and are superior to the angled punches which can make the hole egg shaped and off center. Also the dies have a relief so the blank falls out and you can always make something from the coin blanks because this die design will preserve the coin blanks. Earrings and small magnets are a few ideas you can make from coin blanks! The spacers are professionally made from strong 6061 aluminum with tight tolerances for a tight fit and centered hole every time! The body and guide are also aluminum which wont rust and insures protection of the coins, light weight but super strong and will last a lifetime with minimal maintenance! Made from Aluminum not as sturdy as I thought would be.
The metal is made from aluminum and is not as strong as it should be. Also took a very long time to get here.

Punch jammed 😖
Appears to be well made. But punch hardness ????I’ve only punched one half dollar five dimes and about fourteen quarters. All coins were annealed. I used Pepe lube on both punch and die for all cuts. All punches were done on a six ton hydraulic press. Punch became jammed in the die. After pushing out punch I could see the damage to both punch and die. I do not know what caused it to malfunction. The punch gouged the die and the punch itself had a small flat spot with a plowed groove and an eighth inch burr at the end of groove. I had just ordered a five eights punch and die to expand options. I filed the burr off the punch, with ease, making me question its hardness. It still punched but leaves a one sixteenth inch high burr on one fourth of the holes circumference 😖 difficult to clean off.Contacted seller, defective punch and die were quickly replaced.

easy to follow
A little confusing if you don't bother to read the instructions, but maybe that was just me being typical man? The instructions are less than a page, easy to follow, easy to remember. The punch makes the process a lot easier than drilling manually.One thing I would add- the instructions specify using a press; I tried a few times with a hammer. If you use a hammer, you'll have to use a thick (single) layer of paper towel under and above the coin, to prevent marring when you strike the coin. A press is a better option, however a hammer works just as well when using the paper towel trick.

Love the set, putting it to use already!the coins fit snug, no slop, I strongly suggest a press over a hammer for a clean cut hole, i also add some masking tape just to play it safe to keep the coins clean. Very happy with this perchase.
