An Excellent Compact Battery Load Tester by OTC
The OTC 3183 Battery Load Tested is compact and easy to use. It has quite sturdy battery clamps with just enough cable length to allow one to hold the tester while standing near battery. It comes with product warranty sheet and simple to follow instructions. Just install the clamps, red to (+) and black to (-), apply a load by pressing the red rocker switch for 10 seconds and then read the final voltage. Compare that voltage to the supplied scale for good, fair and bad batteries and you are done. It does get quite hot during the brief test so use care not to touch the top or back of the unit and do not place it on anything damaged by high heat until it has had a chance to cool. Overall it appears to be of good quality and certainly gets the job done.

It Works Like A Charm
First of all, I would like to thank all of you that took the time to answer my questions. This load tester is very easy to use. The instruction say to add or subtract depending on the temperature and the cold cranking amps of the battery. Since I tested the battery when the temperature was 40 degrees, the low temperature cancelled out the added cold cranking amps of the battery. I tested two different vehicles, and both batteries checked out good. I tested the car with the new battery first, and the tester said it was in great shape (as expected). I am glad I listened to you people and bought this load tester. This didgital load tester was worth the extra money.

Works great
Works great used it on some battery's already and it was accurate on them,Some of them batteries where in between good and bad, but shows as bad,so i tested with other testers and showed that it was still usable, just needed a little service.but still a great tool to test batteries in seconds.would recommend to anyone.

Well made, if you know what you are looking for it works great. Guide lines are in the manual.

Built strong.
This is a great tool that is well built. I was thinking of getting the analog but I am glad I bought the digital. The analog is easier with the the color coded voltage scale but if you remember to test with a fully charged battery (accurate test requires a charged up battery anyway) a strong battery will load test to 9.6 and higher. 10 volts is the scale for a good healthy battery (with full charge under load test after 10 secs. take off load should return to 12.6+ on a 12 volt battery). All the tests are easy and the tester is well made with strong clamps.

Careful it does get hot
Nice and easy to read, pretty accurate so far. I haven't used it to check my alternator yet tho since i would just disconnect the battery while it's running. I just wish they put the voltage parameters label directly on it

Great product
I run an electric go kart track and our biggest part expense is batteries. This is used everyday pretty much all day long and each one has lasted us about three years. Couldn’t be happier with these. This is the third one we have purchased!

Yeah load test and digital readout is all great, but what does it all mean
Yeah load test and digital readout is all great, but what does it all mean? Why in the world didn't they at least put a sticker on the side with a voltage table? Are you kidding me? Absolutely inexcusable.
