Can I switch the drain to a different one?

I love this sink!! BUT ➡️ check with your plumber to make sure. The drain size I do believe is standard size and I had no problems when mine was installed.

what are internal dimensions? Description states 31" id and 30" od. Can't be right

The interior bowl dimensions are 27-1/2" (wide) x 15-3/4" (front-to-back) x 9" (internal bowl depth)

Is there a metal grate that comes with the sink to protect the bowl

That’s correct. Sink is beautiful and well made. Installed it little over 6 months ago and no complaints.
