Q: Are they really "leak proof" or more like leak resistant? Like can you bend, lay, etc.?

Resistant. I bent over once and it definitely leaked. Also, laying on your back just wouldn’t work. I love this pump, it works almost as well as my spectra but you really need to just be upright.

Q: Can non-motorized components be sanitized via boiling?

Per the instructions, yes. That’s actually how they recommend. However, I have done both boiling and a sterilizer and it scummed up my bottle. Still worked just fine, but just to note.
